Hi there,
I’m a novice watch enthusiast and have been researching the Omega Speedmaster Mark II and really like the Ref 145.014. I’ve found one which seems ok to me. A forthcoming online collector who answered all my questions. States original parts, ownership history unclear.
Has a video of the watch available, demonstrates full functionality and has sent photos. I was hoping for some expertise/guidance.
I presume the 861 movement can be readily serviced despite the age?
Verbal report only of a recent service though.
There is no bracelet available.
Asking 1590 euro or $2488.00 AUD
Based on my limited information here can anyone provide thoughts or advice, pursue or steer well clear. Thanks

The lift angle of the 861 should be set lower than the default 52deg. Can’t remember what it is exactly but it is lower. What this means is that the trace you show actually has a rather less amplitude than shown, 230deg maybe and thus the movement may be not all that healthy. I would as ever assume the claims of a recent service are bs. Without paperwork they invariably are.

You could look up the 861 angle and ask him to set the machine properly which will result in a noticeably lower amp reading. You can use that as evidence that a service is needed and negotiate on that basis.

It's just a keyboard shortcut - option 0 (Mac).

You might also consider doing a 'title search' for speedmaster mark 2 on this forum. It should bring up some interesting reading.

If that's had a recent service, then I would not use the seller's watchmaker!
