    Hello gents and ladies,

Greetings from Finland. My first post here and already asking stupid questions. :whistling:

Watch and omega newbie is restoring his freshly bought Seamaster 600 (135.011) black technical dial with red logo and crosshair - 22-starting serial so dating 1965 if I am not completely mistaken. Currently hunting down "the right" buckle for it... but the more I read the more I am confused. So little help needed. 16mm would be probably the width to go for anyway?

Is the far right already too modern? Or am I looking completely wrong buckles in general? All tips are highly appreciated. Thank you in advance. :)

Welcome to OF, and no its not a stupid question.
I would say the two on the left are more period correct for the mid 60's, the other two are slightly later
I like the 2nd from the left with its sharp edges but so far I have not managed to find one. 16mm internal width would be the correct size.
They do exist but you need to be careful as there are lots of fakes out there.

    US market steel buckle.

I would be surprised if someone hasn't made knockoffs of these, but I wouldn't know how to tell the difference.

@omegastar brilliant post. Thank you for taking the time to post. So much here I think I could be revisiting a lot. Really great advise that will help the community avoid wasting time and money.

Recently bought a 1946 28.10 Omega bumper from a French seller. Was pleased to see that what I assume is a genuine buckle but it has a stamp on the side not listed in this thread so thought id add to the knowledge. If anyone can tell me anything about it i’d be very interested. I think it says “MRF” or “MBF”.

Fake, the spring-bar is generally the first sign on these.

What does the original system look like in comparison?

My Constellation came with this 14mm buckle (from a trustful seller). The pity with this is that its difficult to find a new 19/14mm strap for the shitty one it came with.

So I note its probably the type of spring bar (in the original case round tube with spring pins on both sides)?

Would the wrong springbar really mean its a fake buckle though? I replaced one on my genuine buckle as it was too rusted and green. I always considered springbars to be pretty disposable things that wear out.

On this buckle, the tell is the engraving on the back. It should read “Acier Inox”, not “Acierin o x”.

This is an Asian made fake.

Exactly, but I first look at the spring-bar to know if I need to be double careful...
