I think it's on the original leather, I love single keeper straps. I have no certain knowledge about that piece but I'd date it around 1964 to 67. It could be earlier but the little square makes me think mid-60's for some reason.

Legit maker “B” IMO
See earlier photos from thread
See them less often compared to other makers

Hi everyone! New on this forum and I think I found just what I was looking for!

I was recently gifted a vintage Omega Seamaster which I’ve had serviced and restored with a new original crystal and crown. My idea was trying to keep the watch as close as possible to what it would’ve looked like when originally sold and hopefully retain its value as much as possible (although it’s not an expensive watch, but it already has quite an emotional value to me)

The only thing pending at the moment is getting a new strap, and I was debating amongst three options: 1) a new quality strap from 3rd parties (an alligator Hirsch or similar) 2) a new Omega strap (both strap and buckle from Omega) or 3) Trying to find a vintage Omega strap

For option 3) I came across a seller who happens to have some original new old stock straps which would fit my watch. My only concerns are 1) if these will actually be authentic 2) if these straps will actually match my vintage watch, not in size but in style, or if I might end up with some sort of Omega Frankenstein…

Below some pictures of my watch and the strap (sent by the seller), what do you think about it? Does it look ok?

Many thanks all, hope to spend many hours on this forum from now on!

Hello and congrats on your Omega watch. The strap and buckle look good and are legit. dont worry having a non Omega strap does not make the watch a franken you may find several diffferent color you like over time but this one is a good start. New Omega straps are generally very pricey and many feel not worth the cost but up to you.
make sure the lug width of strap is correct for your watch for a good fit.
Welcome to OF!

Many thanks for your response and for your welcome message! I think I’ll end up with a really nice vintage looking watch…

Solid 18k gold vintage buckle, these are rare as hens teeth.
Ends in 2 hours!

There are a few that have reached out to me wanting to buy mine, here is a chance to snag one 😀
Record low price, follow all the updates for years and miss the most important one 🙁 I've participated in many 18K auctions and never won one, they've all been from sneaky wins - there's always someone who bids without any limits

If any member is interested in acquiring some in bulk I'm available to do a video call, value them at 29 euro for 14mm long ones and going up to 349 euro for my best find, an 18K pink gold buckle (3rd photo, right in the middle) 😀

Any 9k 16mm buckles?

Looks super fake

Any 9k 16mm buckles?
Were never able to get one, certain members grabbed some themselves but left me helpless 😀

I think UK members could more easily have them, hard to acquire them when you are not local or have access

I don’t think Omega has ever used Comic Sans as a regular font on their buckles…

Wrt 16mm UK fully hallmarked 9k buckles

They do exist (i had 3 or 4 at one time, i think, and paired them to watches from the same date)

they do crop up on fleabay from time to time

They Used to sell for 100£ about 10 yrs ago, £200 in 2018, but havent looked recently, but i would guess they now sell for considerably more. Make sure the tong is also stamped 9ct

Most (all?) are made by MWF for Omega

There are 2 sorts -

1) rounded, pre 1962

2) Squared, after 1962

I started a crib-sheet, see a couple of screen shots below

Hi @kaplan, PM sent!
The rounded shape one with no visible omega logo to the front - does it have omega written on the underside? Also would you consider selling this one if it indeed does? Thank you 😀

For the right price anything is for sale but hard to valuate buckles, for this one I have no idea and I was only able to catch one of these in 4 years

I mainly want to eliminate repetitions and enrich/thin my collection a bit. Challenging though as I feel alone with my love for the 18/14 - 19/14 taper 😀

A question for the buckles pundits: would appreciate your thoughts on what stainless steel buckle(s) would be most appropriate for a mid 1960’s Speedometer. Many thanks.
