Hello,

Back again with a vintage looking buckle. Would no markings at all mean fake no matter what ? I feel like anything is possible with omega buckles here..

Have a nice day !

Tom
Compare to these photos taken from earlier part of this thread. “Later B”
Yours looks quite similar but not signed. I think legit see if others agree

It’s small make sure size is what you want. The smaller one go for less you might hold out for nicer one especially if it’s for a lady who might have less affection for patina and wear.

It does look similar and the fact that it was unsigned got me confused. So many possibilities here..

Good point there, I might skip on this one...

Thanks again!

Here is a UG buckle with similar sourcing as the Omega buckles of the 1960’s. Since AW are rarer, i might be picking this one up for a Polerouter. I know it’s UG, but there isn’t a great thread about those buckles and I wonder if anyone knows about these ( since same sourcing and AW sourcing as Omega). Looks too new to be true.

I've not studied UG buckles, but the shape and AW text looks ok. This has probably been replated, which many think is legit- if you want patina maybe not good choice. I have no opinion regarding the UG logo however. Others will know more I think.

First off, wow, what a great resource. Thank you for sharing this with the internet for folks like me who love researching this kinda thing down to the smallest bit..or buckle.

I’ll disclaimer that I only read the first 5 pages, so maybe it’s discussed after. The straight buckles are AW, but I can’t seem to find the mention of straight or oblong for the MG ones? Mine is original and I know it is from a 1954 reference 2767 due to it still being in the original box and on the original strap. I can’t seem to firmly match it to any of your pictures however just from fine details!

Without a marking for AW or MG it has me for a loop, but was thinking old AW until in another commenters post early on he guessed and you confirmed it to be an AW, and the omega symbol end of the buckle visibly forms a point in the middle and slopes to the outsides from a top view. Mine is completely straight angular. Also it seems a little wider but maybe that’s because it’s an 18mm so they increase the other dimensions as well proportionately? I’ve attached some pics, apologies for the lack of quality but I have tried my best to capture the same angles from your original posting. Also, you mention the 18mm being like finding a needle in a haystack, why is that? Less produced with it or just people hang onto them or what? This is 18mm.

Thanks so much for putting in the effort for others to benefit from!!

Measurement is the inside not the outside. Are you sure the inside measurement is 18?
Focused closeup photos of front back and sides would help. Looks like legit AW but better pictures needed.

Pardon my ignorance. In true noob fashion I measured outside dimension not inside. It is 16mm measuring inside, thanks for making me understand how that measurement works, it does make sense now. Only the Strap is 18mm then.

Hey hopefully these pics will be better for you to be able to classify it from.

I’m going with “older style AW”, by the front lips edge being a straight line and not sloping to the corners, and the omega symbols mass.

Did I get it right now?!

Looks like a bad fake that may or may not be sterling silver (0.925 fine).

One for the bin then?

It came on a genuine watch and leather Omega strap.

Pictures too fuzzy for me. Can you take better focused shots front back and sides after removing from buckle? Springbars can help w authenticity
