Hello everyone,

I bought 2 buckles from a dealer who has a very good reputation in the German „Uhrforum“. The buckles come from a watchmaker's estate, said the dealer.

My assessment: I don't like the spring bar on either of them. Both have "Acier Inox" written on them without a gap. I don't like the logo on the stainless steel one. On the gold-plated one, the lettering seems to be lasered.

So I think they are fakes. But as the dealer has a good reputation, I want to be sure - what do you think?

Thank you, Andreas

Looking for a gold-plated buckle for one of my Omegas, does this one look legit??

The logo looks a bit strange comparing to the others that I have....
Rather poor quality fake.

Run away.

Both fake.

Thanks for the feedback - so as feared :-(. I'll send the buckles back and inform the dealer.

Hi everyone,

I think this is an MG design solid gold buckle but I can't be sure and I don't want to get it acid tested - I've attached some comparison photos side by side with a very worn plaque MG buckle

Has anyone seen a similar solid gold buckle?

Usually there’s a hallmark with solid gold do you see anything?

Yeah I would have expected hallmarks, have you checked the sides?

You can see remnant of what could be a hallmark but it's long gone, I assume polished

With both hallmarks and stamps gone I think the only certain way to know is to take it to a jeweller and have it tested

Hello everyone,

I bought a vintage Omega strap with a buckle on ebay last week. The pictures were not good but I was confident that the clasp was original. It has just arrived and unfortunately the buckle is fake. The buckle has no logo and even from the side you can see the difference compared to the original buckle. The fake buckle is less well made on the side.

So be careful...🙄

The strap gives it away I guess but the buckle itself could’ve made me believe as there are modern non-marked buckles

@kaplan think I have posted these earlier in this thread already but if talking about hallmarks this is how mine look, a 18k MG made buckle.
The stamps and hallmarks are pretty deep so if they are gone through worn or polish its probably very hard polished.

I’m not sure it’s fake. Not all are marked on back.

Thank you for your feedback. But how can I determine whether it is original?

Have you removed it from the strap? Take photos off strap showing springbar.
