All good. 5 had the earlier flat foot Omega logo, and one has the later with feet turned up- like the progression of crown logos. On the last photo the buckle at bottom is the later logo- can you post picture of back of that one? Nice catch!!!

Paid 130€ for all, a fair price i think

Very much so, well done! I recently paid the same price for three buckles and felt I did well.

Do you happen to know what this measures inside? Thank you.
This one attached to my Seamaster F300, 1972.

Easy on us Uncles, mate!

Great idea, but I'd rather study the finite list of real buckles than the infinite list of fakes.
Actually, if you know one list, you know the other!

Can a company trademark a letter? I do not think so. Anybody could put an omega Greek letter down legally. I know there are pobably some nasty fakes that literally steal trademarks (copying branding and such), but I seriously doubt eBay or Amazon could stop buckle manufacturers from putting an omega character on any given buckle.

I was thinking about buying a tang buckle on ebay. It appears to look okay, but I have no idea. I would prefer a deployant, but this tang might do:

I'm not a legal professional but I believe anyone can apply for an Omega trademark, but it's a matter of who used it commercially first in a specific use (ie: watches), and then for others not to have a "confusingly similar" use that might cause consumers to confuse one product for the original. So using the Omega word and symbol on watches and accessories would create a confusingly similar standard. I'm sure that I can't make a computer and call it "Apple" simply because that's a very common word. I believe the specific design of the logo comes into play as well.
A company also has to have a continual commercial use of the trademark for it to remain in effect, again that's my understanding anyway. Finally there may even be a legally-allowed use but the original company using the trademark might have better lawyers and a bigger budget to send cease and desist letters that a smaller company would rather comply with than spend money fighting. Also, ebay and Amazon themselves do not generally remove items that may be infringing, but rather respond to "takedown notices" sent by companies that hold the copyrights and trademarks. I welcome corrections from anyone with more accurate knowledge.

Fantastic thread!
Here's a buckle I found in my late uncle's home.
It's 14 mm.
I have no clue why he had this buckle, since he had no Omegas.
BTW, I just put it on ebay.

Anyone have any idea what buckle would be appropriate for a 1973 Geneve, Cal 1012, Ref 166.0163?

Thanks SOG, I purchased one off eBay and it has the appropriate markings but it feels really flimsy. I’m assuming it’s a fake. I’ll attach the photos of the buckle.

Looks good to me. They are a bit flimsy but they hold up ok. Show a photo with the band and watch when you get it together.

Hi everyone,

Just to make sure : those below pics (the seller ones) don't really look like any of the original OP listings which make me think they aren't original omega buckles. What do you think ?

I cannot recognize the 'brand' inscriptions...The seller is responsive but his pics are not really good.
If the brand is an omega sign then I think we can confirm it's not original.

For the moment, I'll pass on those buckles then.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks. I do agree. Your feedback confirms my own feelings and I passed.
I'll keep looking : after having gone from watch interest (including vintage ads) to strap interest, I now really appreciate having the right buckles for my watches... I guess next year I'll start collecting boxes 😗.

I'll post a WTB, who knows : maybe someone has too many buckles ?

What watch and strap are you buying buckle for? Be patient they show up on eBay and you can usually spot the fakes if you’ve followed this thread.
