If not this, curious to hear what would be correct for a 1961 Seamaster for the American market. Thanks all!
Could be any of a number of buckle styles depending on whether the watch was imported intact from Switzerland or if only the movement was imported.

There were also many different Seamaster models.

Thanks, appreciate the response. It’s the gold seamaster in my avatar pic, Ross made case in the US, so movement would have been imported alone. What do you think of the above buckle?

This is an Omega-branded 11/16" Long crocodile (OEM Jacoby-Bender) with its "original" buckle in 14mm. mid to late 50s? Who knows?

Here is an original buckle from an American cased 11/16” dated 1960. if I remember correctly the buckle is 1/2”
. I am not fond of it and would be willing to let it go.

That’s really helpful, thanks! Very similar. I actually have a gold plated one already, looking for a solid 14K. I appreciate it though.

This is almost certainly a U.S. made buckle. Possibly made by JB as well. I have seen this exact same style marked for Omega, Longines, Tissot, LeCoultre, Hamilton and Universal. 1/2” = 12.7mm. They will fit a band designed for a 13mm buckle, but will be tight.

Unless you go custom-made, there aren’t too many modern straps that taper from 18mm (or larger) lugs, down to a 13mm buckle. Just not in style anymore.

Some of the above brands also utilized a similar style buckle at 16mm, but those are very hard to find. Some also had 14K or 18K versions, but these are even harder to find, as many were discarded and melted over the years.

Not documented on the main post, but when you say US, I also think of the plain "OMEGA" marking and flimsy but stylish coated buckles - I'm really fond of US Omega's in general - but while not "correct" - UK would be the country to hunt gold buckles, so many low carat gold buckles there

It is my experience with 9K "gold" that it has its own color and doesn't match at all.

I'm here to warn everyone about a very realistic fake buckle, luckily I asked @MtV about it and he saved me fast as he knew the seller

I'd appreciate if the OF family could help me conclude what's happening

Options:
1) Fake realistic buckle - so realistic that they put a wear on it
2) Maybe the buckle is real yet the seller sends a different item (I want to believe, as I seem to have one and I paid close to $100)

https://www.ebay.com/itm/165359004624 - seller is buckles-watch4 to avoid

Here's mine, with wear on it - it could be that the fake buckle was used, or simply there's a weathering process

I got mine on Nov 1, 2021 from an estate seller, so the seller is definitely not a fake buckle seller, he sells regular estate items and seems to have an interest in Omega as well, his other Omega items are genuine - seller is jeapepi-0

I'm highly leaning towards fake now, and I want to believe the seller who originally sold it to me wasn't aware, so if the general consensus is fake, I'll reach out to the seller

3 other buckles for reference - a steel MG with the same design and roughly same dimensions - an 14mm steel "sun" logo with the same full bursted sun stamp (bursts have equal lengths, rather than the usual, short + long combo) - the Omega logo on the 14mm is different, less detail

Note how the edge between the arch and the feet doesn’t exist on the repro (left). It’s much better than the ususal repros we see of these, though.
I know someone who’s ordered a couple and they all arrived in brand new condition. I do think the aging in the eBay picture is artificial…

Agreed the eBay one appears to be fake, but at least to me yours appear original. Following along to learn more. (Also WOW do you have some buckles there man!)

I have this what I'm guessing rather uncommon buckle since its in solid 18k gold, and also with a slightly different profile than most you'll see.
Does anyone have an estimated year of when this style was produced? And what would a value roughly be, it looks unworn and is 14mm (sitting on a unworn Omega strap).

That is very much like a strap I own, though the buckle is different. I think it's likely real.

I wish I kept a detailed acquisition path, e.q photos of the watch it came with, auction it was bought from, the strap it was removed from etc. for every buckle I collected - if watches ever "boom", I suspect hyper realistic fake buckles will ruin the fun of collecting them for good

Even now, this latest experience and the fake I avoided almost ruined it for me, if my rose gold was fake I'd have given up

So, there's a seller on ebay who seems to have a stock of old Omega parts including a number of 16mm SS EK buckles. I've just bought my second one from him. I get the impression that he has a couple for sale at any given time but drip-feeds them onto ebay (another one was listed when I bought my last one).

What's interesting is that while the buckles all look the same (wear excepted), the markings vary a little, just as mentioned on the first page of this thread.

One of mine is marked "EK-PAT" and "TAYBRITE", the other is missing the EK and is just marked "PAT+" and "TAYBRITE". There's another listed from him right now that just has "PAT+" without the "TAYBRITE".

Some of them clearly show signs of age so I assume they are genuine.

What's this "TAYBRITE" thing about anyway, and how does it relate to "STAYBRITE"? (saw brief mention of this on another thread).

Here are my two:

The S was probably broken off the stamp until someone noticed it.

I suggest you just share the seller too, it's easier to spot fakes within context, or eliminate them, and many members know the fakers
