Hey All,
I am totally new to the world of Omega watches and buckles, and this forum, but find it quite fascinating. Have a question about the following buckle made for American market (I assume). It is stamped with the word OMEGA 14K on its back and 14K on its tongue. It is a 16 mm buckle. Here is a question: Is it real or fake? I bought it on the bay as authentic after the seller had assured me it was authentic. But I have my doubts and reaching out for your expertise. I am also guessing the style of the buckle is from the 50’s?

Closer to 40s but yes, still in the 50s. I would expect to see that one with a solid gold Constellation.

IMO Real. Proper hallmarking for a US market piece.

If you have any questions, get it tested by a jeweler.

After more observation, I'm confident "GOLD PLATED 30" "STAINLESS STEEL 30" These stamps are for buckles sold in Japan - there are also other Japan-only oddities like bracelets with only "STAINLESS STEEL" stamping, and unstamped buckles - I believe like UK-US only bracelets, there are Japan-only stuff as well, the buckles are undistinguishable from their Swiss counterparts in quality/design, yet the bracelets are bad, unlike other unique small contract/production bracelets

Thanks for the info on the omega gold plated buckle with "gold plated 30" stamped on the back of the buckle kaplan, I too have one I was not sure if it was fake.
Thanks Ern.

No problem, my reasoning is the wear on them, their aging is on par with the 40-50 year old swiss buckles - and there are so many of them, different variations too

Considering Japan is a pretty lawful country, and one of Omega's top markets, it doesn't seem very likely to me that they would be fakes - assuming there would be legal action against them

Edit: There's also the Quartz versions that tie them all together, it's a unique buckle variation as far as I came across, I don't think someone would invent a fake unique buckle that specific

Yeah mine is pretty aged gold plating is well worn I'm thinking about getting it replated to go on my seamaster 1952 bumper 2767 I want the buckle to match the colour of the seamaster which is a beautiful yellow gold.
Thanks Ern.

Remember that, in the US in the 50s, there were few Omega-marked buckles. Those became more prominent later.

Many Omega watches wore Jacoby-Bender "Champion" straps.

That’s not been my experience. Even the US made gold plated buckles without an Omega logo had “Omega” engraved on the back.

I was talking specifically about the US Collection watches in the Norman Morris catalog.

Hey all, curious about this 14K buckle. Very similar to one posted on this thread earlier, but the lettering is slightly different. Looks maybe like more modern lettering? Potentially looking at it for a 1961 gold Seamaster, American made. What are people thinking in terms of authenticity? Also appropriate for 1961 or was the style faxed out by the 50s? Thanks!

If not this, curious to hear what would be correct for a 1961 Seamaster for the American market. Thanks all!
