A quick trip to the Jewellers

After performing my weekly community service (taking the parents out for a spot of lunch) I decided to have a look in a few windows.

A few items in one jewellers in particular caught my eye so I thought I'd pop in to try some on.

Here are the runners and riders.

1. An Omega Planet Ocean which turned out to be too big for my wrist and stuck up far too much.

2. An Omega Constellation. Very nice and fitted perfectly.

3. A pre-owned Omega Speedmaster reduced first Speedmaster in space. I think it's a limited edition but I'm not sure I've got a check on that. That look very nice on my wrist and fitted perfectly.

4. Lastly but not least, an Omega Seamaster limited edition 2016 Rio. This also fitted perfectly and look very very nice.

Now, which one do I risk my marriage for to buy?

Oh....and a photo of cake just because......

The FOIS is the best of the bunch for sure. Just a great watch. It's a numbered edition, not a limited edition though.

I would go FOIS as well. Yes, numbered edition, not limited. So far I think about 7000 have been produced.

The FOIS is probably going to be the most voted, but I personally hate it. The mis-matched alpha seconds subdial hand, the ugly strap, the inability to find a proper bracelet, the sapphire on what's supposed to be a historic piece, and living with whatever the heck a "Numbered Edition" is are too much for me. Get a regular Speedy Pro instead of the FOIS.

For you, I'd probably get the Seamaster Professional, but the regular blue or black one without the colorful Rios meme. Constellation is ugly. PO is way too big for you.

I stand to be corrected but I don't believe the FOIS is a reduced model as per your post (ie 38.5mm)?

You may be right. The assistant told me it was a reduced, and it's smaller than the speedmaster 57 that I already have.

I'm no expert, as you can probably tell.

Dial and bezel size on the FOIS are same as the Speedy Pro. Case is missing the crown guards of the Pro, hence it comes in a mm or two smaller in diameter.

I would go for the Seamaster because it has a nice dial and the bezel has a nice pop of colour. In terms of cake, it has to be cheese cake or some kind of pastry.

Great alignment on the FOIS case back, very nice.

Only finally tried on an FOIS for the first time this week. I liked it but it didn't make my heart sing. Didn't like the strap, the crystal or the mismatched subdial hands. Still, of the options it would be my choice.

I think you should consider vintage. IMHO, every one of those watches looks huge on your wrist.

I would buy whichever one you think you would wear the most.

I personally am not that attracted to any of those except the FOIS, but as has been mentioned above the sapphire crystal does tend to take away from it a bit. But if you are not a fan or regular wearer of hesalite speedys then it probably will not be a factor for you.

FOIS of the ones listed but it looks a bit big. If you are into a bigger watch on your wrist, FOIS it is IMO

None? If you forced me, the FOIS would be my choice, but what makes a Speedy to me is the bombe lugs. Without them, just much less appealing IMHO. Second would be the seamaster, but I'm not a fan of that bezel. It's like they let a kid loose with crayolas.

A little update.

I've not bought any of them yet as I'm still undecided on them. I think I'm going to go down the pre-owned route as I'm think I'm going to get better for the money in spending.

I have been offered a red faced Schumacher racing for not a great deal of money, but even though I like the watch in not sure if I'm goibg to be throwing my money away!

Have a look around and see if you can find one of the 38mm Aqua Terra models.

Or one of the modern Railmasters in 36mm.
