Hi fellow members...

Earlier this year, I added the NTTD Seamaster 300m to my collection which was so far composed of the 40th Apollo anniversary Speedmaster and the Casino Royale Seamaster 300m limited edition which was a gift for my graduation back in the days.

Always been a fan of the Seamaster series, especially the old ones, and more specifically the 2531.80 model which was a real utility watch, not too fancy, but still very classy to wear with a suit. Also a great fan of Bond novels and movies, so I can't help...

I have been looking for one for some time, but waited until I could come across a good deal, and it has been the case last week when one showed up for sale. It was in excellent condition, absolutely no marks on the bezel or the glass, just some normal wear on the bracelet. The hours are also a little bit tropicalized which I loved. It's a 1997 Seamaster 300m, and it has the original box with all the papers, spare links etc... for a very good price.

So I pulled the trigger, and it joined the collection.







Being about to leave the country to work abroad and far from home, I decided it was the right occasion to go on a last road trip to enjoy a little bit more of what Europe has to offer, even during this covid time.

So I thought it would be nice if this Seamaster could see the place where its reputation started many years ago, when its famous wearer made Omega known as the new "Bond" watch.

It was time to pay a little visit to our soviet friends at the Arkangel Military Complex, or more realistically, the Contra Dam where the opening of Goldeneye was filmed many years ago.











The dam is massive, and located in a very shallow valley, giving an even more higher impression. The bungy jump from the dam made a reccord back in the day as the highest jump from a structure, at 220m. Today you can still make the jump if you are in the mood.

The whole region has a lot to offer, and I really love being able to link the Omega history to such places, wearing a piece that brings together my love for travels, for cinema, literature, and giving us the opportunity to escape reality and feeling a little like in a movie for a few days.

Please tell me that while people on TRF are asking if they can take their new Submariners out in the rain, you just got on with it and bungee jumped with that beauty on your wrist?

 

I do worse with my Omegas.... I shoot with them, I climb, I do water sports, I dive... Watches are made to be worn and used. The scratches on them are souvenirs from life.

I don't buy those watches to keep them in the safe and maybe resell them someday. I make them a part of my life.

Unfortunately, you now owe your Speedmaster a trip to the Moon.

 

I love my NTTD, in fact I’m wearing today. I’ll have to tie-in a Bond road trip, if it ever gets released and we can figure out where’s it filmed.

I've got the mid size Bond watch 2551.80 and totally get where you're coming from. It's a very versatile timepiece.
