Yes, of course……that’s always going to end well

Doing nothing and not reporting to the cops it is not going to solve the watchmaker's problem since most of the nice pieces are gone. Perhaps hiring a PI is the solution.

This has been discussed for quite awhile, with a variety of solutions and or recommendations.
What direction are you inclined to procede? And why? And when?

Have fun

No way! Let's talk more about going in with guns blazing!

What type of guns are you talking about. Nerf guns, Squirt guns, BB guns, Cork pop guns. or guns that have the capability of putting some lead in your A$$

Around here the police will break up violence in progress, vigorously investigate murders and crimes against children, and collect reports for statistical purposes and to document insurance claims for everything else. There is a state agency that investigates elder abuse. You might get more interest from such an agency.

I agree with this 100%. Depending on which state you live in, this is the way to go.

I’m sorry but the only realistic way to solve this once and for all is to take a leaf out of the film A Bronx Tale.

Wait until the guys are all inside the shop, go in with a few well ‘ard pals, lock the door behind you so they cant escape and then beat the living shit out of all of them before throwing them out on the street onto their hogs where all the neighbour kids will join in.

I think we should take it to an internet forum, discuss it for so long , it resolves itself.

"Now yoos can't leave."

"Leave the gun, take the canoli."

So here's a shitty update...went back last weekend...wife wasn't there...only one of the new guys was there and couldn't be bothered from packing boxes. Tried to get his attention..he says "I'll be done in a minute" goes in the back and doesn't come back. I left after an unacceptably long time. 😗🫨

I think, as most have said, I should leave it alone. Trying to dig into the situation further will take more effort than I expected...these hoods obviously don't care for even simple interaction.

I'm not sure I accept the notion these guys are "hoods." Perhaps they wonder about you? Perhaps they question your motives? If you still feel strongly about it, would not now be the time for more effort, not less?

Been nothing but polite so far, and only seen them twice.....if they worried about me they wouldn't have left me in the store alone for so long, and trust me these guys do not look like the type to scare easy.

Nice idea. Maybe the absolute best thing you could do for someone facing the end of their life is just to make sure they know they’ll be missed.

Maybe you could let his children know about these possible bottom-feeders, but I wouldn’t get more involved than that.

Snide comments and
Been nothing but polite so far

See, that’s probably what tipped them off that something was fishy 😉

I like the card idea also. It gives him an ‘out’ if he needs it, and is unlikely to be construed by anyone else as anything other than a kind gesture. And if nothing is going on, you don’t look paranoid or nosy - just amicable.

And if you’re really worried these might be hardcore criminals that could trace your number and put your family at risk, you could invest twenty bucks in a burner phone 😎
