Anyone who buys more expensive watches than I do is a spendthrift who doesn't appreciate that horology is about watches, not money, and anyone who buys less expensive watches than I do is a miser who doesn't appreciate that horology is about watches, not money.

= tulip bulb

it has potential to make money until it doesn’t

having said that, i still want it’s animated case back, more wanting after seeing it in person
in a perfect world, I would rather wanting this caseback with regular black pre-moon dial, oh well why not

It just is a representation of ongoing inflation. There is so much money being pushed into the market by the various governments, it has to go somewhere.

When people spend millions on NFT's and other collectible 'investments' you know we are detached from reality. I just saw someone paid $400k for a NEW PP Nautilus with olive green dial. Madness. Eventually the music will stop, it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when. Be prepared.

Agreed.
I often contemplate what it would take for the music to stop🙁
A good old fashioned gut busting World War perhaps👎
Real estate is going off as well except the numbers are bigger which I imagine is what precludes some from participating where as the watch thing is more affordable.
Buy a watch, hang onto it for a while and sell it for a nice quick profit then use the proceeds to spring into the real estate roundabout.

it's just a bit of fun and novelty.
Besides, some of us grew up with peanuts and enjoyed it immensely. Snoopy had an awful lot going for him as a character😉
I like Snoopy and I quite like the latest watch, but I like the Silver Snoopy even more as an overall package😀
Besides, it's an entirely different concept from the normal limited editions.

Interest rates have been falling for forty years. If/when they go back up, we may see prices flatten or fall. (Or not.)

Too many young studs with easy money from crypto, stocks, social media,... they wanna spend as much as they can afford so I doubt the bubble will burst soon or it will hurt the buyers at those prices at all. So many new buyers into the markets with intended short of supply, what can we expect?

Yes, but the additional money isn‘t equally distributed across the population, i.e. investors are awash and are running out of assets to buy.

Some interesting comments. In a way I’m pleased this hasn’t sold yet, and hope it doesn’t. It would be a glimmer of evidence that sanity can prevail and that there is in fact a ceiling to the price of many of the “hot” watches out there.

Honestly, I don't think a lot of these are selling at $50k but I could be wrong. I check Chrono24 on occasion and see the same ones listed forever.

They are selling in the $40 to $50k range, but they are not necessarily flying off the shelf. They are mostly selling from high-end AAA rated dealers to ultra- high net worth individuals who have multi-million dollar watch collections and are just looking for vehicles to store and transport their money. (at least that is what I believe 😀)

Because NASA gave Omega a Silver Snoopy Award for their role in saving the crew of the Apollo 13 mission.

Of all the SFA Awards, the Silver Snoopy best symbolizes the intent and spirit of Space Flight Awareness. An astronaut always presents the Silver Snoopy because it is the astronauts' own award for outstanding performance, contributing to flight safety and mission success. Fewer than 1 percent of the aerospace program workforce receive it annually, making it a special honor to receive this award.

My friend was able to get one for sub-$40k earlier this year, and got a hefy discount off the list price the private seller on Chrono was offering. I agree with others I have been following on Chrono for almost a year now, it's the same watches sitting.

These used to sit on AD shelves, I know someone who had the opportunity to buy one back in the day at a 15% discount because AD was trying so hard to move it. Turns out if became one of THE Speedmaster grails, so the secondary market reflects that.

Chrono shows a jump from $27K in April 2020 to $48K now (for one with complete box and papers), which is crazy. Now we regret not picking them up at $27K, who knows what it'll be in 5 years time. I wouldn't rule out or be surprised if prices will be even higher, to be quite honest.

I think chicks dig this watch cos they think it's cute, and assume it is like a random Swatch. Until they see the price tag. Then their reaction will surely to towards either ends of the spectrum, and I believe mostly to the negative.

For guys, it is mostly wtf.
