Alternatively, you could buy 25 top pedigree Beagles…

But do they come with box and papers 😉

Why buy a mechanical watch when you can get an Apple watch for a fraction of the price that can do more things and is way more accurate?
Are you a fan of snoopy?

Could somebody please explain why you would want to have snoopy on your watch?

A theory…

…but maybe it’s just a cool watch regardless of snoopy the dog (when it was RRP)?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

(My better half is into all kinds of design and she loves the new one for the design plus the child-like ‘wow’ it brings to her #foreveryoung)

Don't you really know anything about the history related to Snoopy, NASA and Omega?

For maybe two years until Apple decides to update their software.

Or a 50 year old watch that will still be working in 50 years.

I can understand why someone might not like a Snoopy speedmaster but I don't get the Apple watch versus mechanical watch argument.

Not even a little bit. Unless this was sarcasm that I missed in which case I apologize.

Because it’s the most ubiquitous non-mechanical watch there is. Substitute Apple Watch for any other inexpensive quartz or mechanical watch if you like

Okay, so agreed that Apple can't compete.

Another illustration. Volkswagen beetle vs Porsche 911.

This is a poor example because I love both. Actually it might be a great example. Quartz is a great watch, just like a Volkswagen bug. But a 911 is a great car too. It's fabulous to explore the possibilities for what a car can be, which is more than simply the cheapest way to get from A to B.

But in the context of a 50k Snoopy, i agree that's no longer a watch question. It has become a money and commodity question. Not fun like it was originally.

EDIT:
But I think I misunderstood your original premise, which is that we are saying the same thing. Sorry, I didn't read it carefully. You're defending the value of a beautiful watch over simply telling time.

😒 Egg on my face.

I agree it’s a silly question.
Why would you want a red and white racing track around your watch? Or a crown or a horseshoe? Or anything? Why even wear a watch at all?!
To be fair, having Snoopy and the rest of the "extras" on the dial of this Apollo 13 LE, means it's a less versatile wearer than many others.

The world has gone mad, this fear of missing out on the latest fad is just nuts, there is no logic behind it.

Almost every luxury watch brand seems to have one or more watches at the moment that appears to be made from unobtainium, in the event that you are lucky enough to get one you can make a small fortune if you are prepared to sell it on.

There are great watches out there but this FOMO factor is taking prices to crazy heights. My concern is for those that buy at these inflated prices only to see the bubble burst later on, although the bubble seems pretty robust at the moment.

+1
I think anyone playing this game needs to be clear in their mind how much they think this watch is truly worth and are they prepared to pay that amount to get their hands on it. And also can they live with the consequences if the bubble bursts?

When people spend millions on NFT's and other collectible 'investments' you know we are detached from reality. I just saw someone paid $400k for a NEW PP Nautilus with olive green dial. Madness. Eventually the music will stop, it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when. Be prepared.

The problem is the bubble is still getting bigger and bigger and shows absolutely no sign of any inflationary leakage, at the moment those paying these inflationary prices are seeing their purchases rise in value but it has to stop the market cannot sustain these rises much longer IMHO.

Like this JLC for 5200 that recently sold. Under my radar but what a great watch for so much less money than other hot watches. Thankfully, there are still a lot of great watches that aren't the latest hot watch.

For me, it's kind of a gimmick. That's not why I buy watches.
