路I am both happy and sorry to report that my install was quick and easy. I was a bit worried after this thread. The US spring-bars are indeed fatter and a bit longer. I didn't even bother with those and just used the stock ones. The hardest part was indeed getting the pins fully seated into the holes. It was easy to get them between the lugs but then to get them to actually pop into the holes and extend I had to push down and in pretty hard on the end link. I also taped my lugs for the first time just in case. I can see how you had a bear of a time with this and scratched the lugs. Resizing the bracelet was a breeze. Took two links out on one side, one on the other in a few minutes. Pins ain't so bad.
It's shiny. It's jangly. It's comfy. And it looks great. I'm happy so far.
Glad it worked out for you -- maybe my disaster helped with your success in some way (you can always lie and say it did - please, thank you馃槑)?
Lemons to lemonade for me -- my disaster lead to finally giving the Komfit a try ~ which I now love much more than the US flat link (but that I am saving for either modifying the endlinks for the 3861 at some point or to install on my Nivada Grenchen Chronomaster when/if it comes back to me).

路@SC1 I definitely taped the lugs because of you. I鈥檒l probably do that as an easy precaution from now on. It鈥檚 not perfect but it helps. I also knew not to use the US spring bars. Not sure which bars I would have used otherwise. So your pain did help me a bit in all honesty. Maybe the silver lining for you is you鈥檙e now free to change straps on your speedy with reckless abandon and not worry much.
Afterwards it did occur to me that removal may be a bitch. I鈥檒l find out when the time comes lol. Also, wondering if the bars being under constant stress/tension will have any negative impact. Not going to lose sleep over it though.

Still firmly in Hard-On phase with the Komfit... now that I mastered removal and placement i kinda can't see ever going back.
Interestingly, just yesterday finally packed away the 3861 OEM bracelet -- had been keeping it out and readied assuming the Komfit would lose my love for it but it has not happened.
