321 - Opinions? What we will get

My guess - it's only a guess although it is derived from a comment one guy from Omega HQ made at an event in Paris a few months ago - is that the "new" 321 will not fit a speedmaster (at least, not this year). If so, it may well fit a seamaster (like the one on the pic) in a larger case (38mm rather than 35mm). I also understood that the release will happen towards the end of the year.

how would everyone feel about this, releasing the 321 in a non speedmaster? good for vintage speedy collectors, but uninspiring?

If those little grey cells in my memory are still functioning properly then I have a notion that the 321 wasn鈥檛 only used in Speedmasters but also the Seamaster, so whilst the 321 in the Speedy went off to space and all the glory the Seamaster version remain pinned by gravity to the blue planet.

So, I would be happy to have a 321 Seamaster, but my smile would be bigger if it was in a Speedmaster.

I was at an OB yesterday for a Moon Anniversary event, and definitely a 321 Speedmaster will be announced today 12:56 pm AEST (Australia).

Are you sure of the time?
Don't forget that Buzz was around a 1/4 of an hour or so after Neil.

Known for its beautifully intricate design, the original Calibre 321 was the first movement ever used in the OMEGA Speedmaster in 1957. Most famously, it was used in a variety of space-bound models including those that went to the moon. After extensive research and reconstruction in a dedicated workshop, the Calibre 321 has now been reborn in-line with its original specifications.

To view the reconstructed movement, customers will be able to look through the sapphire-crystal caseback of the new Speedmaster Moonwatch 321 Platinum. As the name suggests, the chronograph features a 42 mm brushed and polished case crafted from a special platinum alloy with the use of gold (Pt950Au20). The case design is inspired by the asymmetrical 4th generation Speedmaster case with twisted lugs (ST 105.012), and is presented on a black leather strap with a platinum buckle. Furthermore, this exciting timepiece includes a black ceramic bezel with the Speedmaster鈥檚 famous tachymeter scale in white enamel.

Of course, there are plenty of other captivating features to explore too. The step dial is formed from onyx, with a deep black colour that works in perfect harmony with the other materials, including 18K white gold for the indexes and most hands. Another very notable feature is the three meteorite subdials. In tribute to the Speedmaster鈥檚 lunar history, OMEGA has used real slices of moon meteorite, providing a genuine link to the Calibre 321, which has powered every Speedmaster ever worn on the moon.

For fans wishing to own a genuine piece of Moonwatch history, as well as a genuine piece of the moon itself, this chronograph should be high on their wish list.

Looks great. Love the use of meteorite and the case back. I wonder how much it will cost...not that I can afford it.

Glad there will be some delay to the SS version of the 321 so I can save up some money for now. 馃榾

Edit: Stepped dial and DON are nice. Understandable they used sapphire crystal for the high end part I suppose, but hesalite would have been nice.

Looks very nice. Though it won鈥檛 be cheap, and all the platinum, white gold, onyx, etc. will only be obvious to those in the know.
The meteorite dials look cool, very subtle and a nice tribute.

My OB manager (30 years+ with Omega and goes to the events) informed me earlier this month there would be a SS version with a 321...hope he's right. He wasn't allowed to say anything more than that, but said that he could confirm.

It's a pretty good looking watch. The open case back is very nice!
