300MC update imminent?

The 3rd gen PO was only out for a few years. Seems like Omega realized that the revamped lineup just missed the mark with the odd case dimensions 39.5/14.5 and 43.5/16 (I think it’s 16mm thick).

It was released in 2016. 5 year cycle.

Info on the strap on the right??

Not sure if this was answered already, but think the rubber strap here is the Hirsch Accent Rubber strap, a more modern alternative to a tropic I suppose.

On topic, man Omega killing it with the rumors. Had already mentally reserved (non available) funds for the new Speedy, and now this. Loving the thinner case of the 300MC, hoping the lug width is 20mm. Not familiar with the 8912 movement, need to look in.

Also wondering whether titanium version would perhaps follow later, quite like the lightness of titanium for a diver (thin wrists and all).

Micro-adjust on a bracelet is also a must in my book, love it on the 60th Railmaster. Then again have a feel this watch is best suited for a rubber strap.

On a more critical note, I quite like the dash of white with the numerals in the current generation 300MC, not sold on the conical crown, and think I prefer the arrow hand vs the lollipop.

Really interested in what thickness turns out to be, ideally they keep it under 13.5 but not so sure.

Looks like a very solid update. I like that the numbers are part of the sandwich dial too now. I‘m still very happy with my current Seamaster 300 - no urgent need for the new one.

Looks like a great update - better form factor all-around. OMEGA sure has a lot of excellent dive models.

I hope one day they make a variation where the hour markers have a bit of gilt or polished steel around them.

Loving it - gonna hold my cash to see if we get a 300 Diver or thinner PO GMT next year...

It’s like they’ve updated it without really updating it, just fiddled around a bit - why change the crown, for example, necessary? “Seamaster 300” is nice I suppose, but improved movement?, by name perhaps. Not using a ceramic bezel insert seems an odd one. Also, not a fan of the protruding crystal, domed or not.

I guess one could argue what’s the point with similar on the speedy; stepped dial, DON etc. - I dunno, more nerdy and interesting on the Speedy? It doesn’t have the same effect on the SM300, to me at least.

Having said all this, a more tapered bracelet is definitely a plus - they just look better! That’s my only gripe with the current (now old?) model.

They were just my initial reactions, it’s interesting to see what others like/dislike and what they go for. We all have different tastes 😀

After looking at it a few more times I think I'm warming slightly to the numerals. They still look too thin to me, especially compared to vintage 2913s or the current 300MC. That said, the close-up of the dial makes it seem like it's gloss? Light seems to be reflecting around the top of it.

I’m glad I’ve got the Mk1. I think the size and height is great, even on the thick Omega nato, after all it is a dive watch. I like the nod to vintage military pieces with the seconds hand and the bezel is just on the right side of bling. My only complaint is the bracelet, particularly the clasp, but I dislike all of the modern Omega clasps.

if they really wanted to please the “vintage nuts” they’d make the bezel out of Bakelite.

Sarcasm or not that'd be great! Though I'd think a modern sapphire bezel would be a better idea, much of the look but none of the fragility.

The 300M was updated in 2018, so is not due for an update anytime soon.

If the PO is indeed updated next year as per the rumors, chances are a GMT version wouldn't be along for at least a year afterwards - those tend to be added for mid-cycle refreshes.

The 300M GMT was rumored to have been initially scheduled for release this year, and was pushed back though. So maybe we'll get that next year

Not a fan of the conical crown and it looks especially off on this new Seamaster 300. The lollipop seconds hand is an interesting look but the cut out numerals on the dial just screams Panerai.

I'm happy with my V1...

An obligatory side by side shot... 2014 vs 2021 Seamaster 300.

Yeah, that conical crown is definitely out of place on the new Seamaster 300.

Yeah, the conical crown is a little strange. And maybe it's just because I'm only used to seeing the modern editions, but putting 'Seamaster' all by its lonesome at 6:00 looks weird to me.

I agree. Looks like my Trilogy SMP, but the spare text is better integrated on that watch, IMO. Hard to tell really from these renderings tho.

Crown doesn't bother me but the return to an aluminum bezel is a step back.

Real reason is cost cutting .

I don't think so. Maybe there are doing it for the reason that bezel can get a vintage look too.
That was the reason for NTTD bezel in aluminium

They seem to have got confused between a homage with modern tech and trying to recreate the SM300, which they have already done with the trilogy model. They’ve ended up somewhere in the middle.
