The bezel's sapphire insert is not available as a separate part, so the entire bezel assembly would have to be replaced. It will be quite an expensive repair...

I would imagine it’s to prevent it from chipping/cracking anymore than it already is. Otherwise little bits of it will start falling out of the bezel.

Understood. One time my crazy ex threw a mint 1153 with GF bracelet out the window. I almost dove after it.

I have Bad luck with this hobby.

Thank you Gentlemen and enjoy your Holidays.

Oh boy. That’s bad news. Thank you anyway.

Omega has gone back and forth over the years on having parts available separately. Many years ago you could get aluminum inserts apparently, but for the last 10 years at least, you have had to buy the whole bezel. When the ceramics came along, initially some you could buy the insert for, as well as the lume pip (properly called a capsule). But recently (back in September of this year) Omega has gone back to every bezel only being sold as an assembly, with no inserts or capsules available.

Btw, you are correct. I’ve just learned that it’ll be the entire assembly or nothing. And yes, it will be in the four figures just for the Bezel, excluding labor, Vaseline.. This is worse than any comparable Rolex or vintage Heuer repair/replacement in my life.

I’m def gonna keep the old bezel as a souvenir. Eff them,

Care to share the story of how you cracked it ?

When I switched (from the mesh) to the standard rubber one... I must’ve left one clasp spring loose and it wiggled itself out, falling precisely where the floor was marble (rest of the house is wood).

This watch is a brick, any drop is violent I suppose.

Oh okay.

It’s a lovely watch by the way!

Makes me wonder why they chose sapphire for the insert on that watch. Just doesn't make sense to me. Its the sole reason why I wouldn't own that watch, which otherwise is awesome in my book.

Definitely one of my favorite timepieces, so stylish for such robust and technical watch. Perhaps you’re right, sapphire belongs nowhere near this otherwise bulletproof piece.

Arrives tomorrow. Hope it’s not fugazi..

To finalize, if anyone knows a decent-priced bezel remover that’d work on this crazy one, pls lmk.

sorry to keep reviving this.

Just to go one up over ceramic.

Nail polish will also do it in a pinch👍

The crazy part is, if you run your finger over the broken sapphire, you won’t feel the smallest difference. It’s just as smooth.. basically it broke in layer(s) inside the bezel somehow.

in any case, I am watching videos to learn how to remove the entire assembly.. Can’t risk breaking the new sapphire.

Might be worth entrusting the job to a watchmaker... breaking the replacement on it's way in would be less than optimal! 👎
