That was a good race. Battles up and down the field.

Curious about what is happening at Cadillac. They seem to start in the midfield mix but fall off the pace about halfway through the race.

I had figured the Ferrari engine has the smallest turbo and is a bit down on power to trade for drivability, it might be that Ferrari and HAAS are able to make it work with efficient aero while Cadillac are running a draggy car, but it seems really nervous and unstable in low speed corners despite the two veteran drivers.

Apparently Cadillac did also insist on designing their own gearbox carrier and rear suspension from the start as well, while HAAS use every available part they can including the whole rear end from Ferrari, and have their car manufactured by Dallara still rather than in-house. Doing it the hard way might teach them how to build a better car in the long term.

Aston Martin must be using Lucas electricals. It’s the only excuse for having the biggest POS on the grid.

Seems Mercedes has picked their favorite driver.

I don't understand what you mean by this. Neither driver received any favour/team orders from the team, they were just left to themselves.

Yea I feel like Toto might like Kimi more just because of the opportunity given how good he is so early but I think he's more concerned about having a nothing incendiary driver relationship like 2016 again

I agree, the contract stuff last year proved George will get dropped for Max if Toto ever gets the opportunity, Mercedes see Kimi as a long term prospect. But the sprint race yesterday was certainly unfolding in George's favour and Mercedes did nothing to get involved.

Well, the Merc scrap(s) made for some interesting racing I guess.
Until it didn't. I'm here for it though. George has always been sort of bland for me.
And I like seeing the new guys get up in the mix.

don't think merc doing any favourtism atm - seems like GR behind due to reliability issues atm - im sure over the course of the season these things have a tendancy to balance out

I am sure George thought was going to be top dog after Lewis left. Kimi is the heir apparent at Mercedes, whether George knows it or not.

Toto knows what he's doing. If the team is at the top of the points and he has room to let some drama propel headlines and exposure, it's all the more leverage for him.
