I still have not watched a single episode.
I never had a real reason why, just never had the time I guess.
But I keep hearing the same thing recently.
My wife likes manufactured drama, maybe we can watch it together hah.
This season has lots of insight. Like Toto really thought he had a chance with Max at the start of the season. That had just been rumor.

More then a little insight straight from the horses mouths in season 7 that gives an interesting look at what went on in the background and had only been conjecture before hand.

The other seasons can be hit or miss.

I was prepared for a season of Q1 crash outs for Alonso, then he goes and pulls a great lap out of nowhere. Still looking forward to the 2026 Newey Aston but this might be interesting still

Nice qually for Williams.
In Drive to Survive the choice for Sianz to go there which seemed to make zero sense to no one seems to have hinged on Vowles convincing him and Albon that they would be a world class team in 2 years.

How they are doing it I have no idea.

McLaren did it, so maybe Williams can do it, too.

I've always had a soft spot for Williams. I wouldn't mind seeing them succeed.

I have nothing against Williams, but my support for them only goes as far as it's good to see a historic team get back on their feet. I do like Carlos though, I think he was hard done by Ferrari and Red Bull made a huge mistake by not picking him up for the second seat. So I want to see him do really well.

Likewise for Tsunoda, glad to see him in fifth. Red Bull should have picked him up for the second seat if not Carlos, and they missed with that one as well. Lawson hasn't done enough to justify where he is and my prediction was that he would crumble like every other inexperienced driver has before him in that seat. I'd stop short of saying Ricciardo deserved it over Lawson, much as I supported him for his whole career good and bad, but Tsunoda certainly did.

Something interesting in the data that I missed watching the live session is that Hamilton set a faster individual sector time in all three sectors compared to Leclerc. He just couldn't string them together into a faster lap. I think that bodes well for him, given his relative inexperience with the new car. Fingers crossed Lewis's wet weather experience and the rumours of Ferrari having set their car up for wet conditions at the expense of qualifying performance pay off there and he winds up nearer the pointy end.

03:30 UTC, long past my bedtime, and I'm glued to the commentary and F1.com timing screens with 30 minutes to the start in Melbourne.

Rain lashing down they say.

Lot of banana peels out on the track. But overall I thought it was a pretty decent opener.
Things shook out pretty much how I expected them to.
Didn't expect pretty much every rookie to crash out though. And was bummed for Carlos.

Timezone. Not in an ideal timezone for Europe or the Americas. At least the Asian GP's or still played at a tolerable hour for Europe. Australia is horrible for everyone except Asia.

As someone who started watching F1 in 1996, the season kicking off in Melbourne just feels right 😁

Mixed conditions usually make for exciting races and unexpected results and this was no exception. Shame that Piastri wasn’t able to recover as well as Norris after their offs; also a shame that Ferrari still haven’t been able to figure out strategy. The championship is McLaren’s to lose.

Merc have made some progress but they’re still not there.

It appears Red Bull is going to struggle to match the pace of the front runners, especially over a race distance. The weather in Oz helped mask some of the cars weaknesses.

Can’t believe Stroll didn’t put it in the hedge when so many others did!

It always depends on where you live, I lived in Middle Park, Vic from 1996-2001 and walked the six blocks to the track every year, so it was great for those in OZ. Race was at 11pm here in TX, 9pm on the US west coast so reasonably convenient for the US. China is horrible for the US, 2am qually and race in Central time zone, ugh.

I see Eddie Jordan passed. RIP.

9pm pacific time 11pm Texas time for Australia? China is worse by an hour or 3.

European races are worse.

I'll usually just watch them the next morning. Not really a huge deal.

Eddie Jordan, may all your finishes be well fought podiums up in the great race track in the sky.
