Interesting that article references MostlyF1 as the source of the Destructors Championship data, who themselves appear to have stolen it without attribution from a Redditor who has been doing it for years, right down to the exact dollar amounts in the estimates. The original source has quite a bit more detail on how the amounts were estimated.

Really shows how bad it got for Williams towards the end of the season.

It's also interesting to note Sergio has caused more crash damage this year than Logan Sargeant did, and almost more than Mick Schumacher did in a season. Considering how much shit they copped in the media for that, I'm surprised Sergio flies under the radar on how much he costs the team. I guess he's got bigger problems at the moment.

Of course this only tells part of the story, You will have other costs, some drivers have more mechanical sympathy than others, some are just harder on cars, add to this how much were they paid and then offset how much they earned for the team in both their reputational bankablity with sponsors, fans, merch sales, publicity etc, and how much they got in results. Not all of these factors can be measured directly in $$$
This would paint a much more interesting picture.

I don't think Max can top his 2023 season but I do expect him to win the championship in 2024. Red Bull should also repeat as the Constructors Champions although it will be a bit closer this year.

I hope to see Lando finally get the monkey off of his back and win a few races.
In retrospect, I got most of this right. 🤷‍♂️

It has to be a sports car and it has to be a Porsche. Any 911 variant or 718 Cayman/Boxster with the 4.0 NA engine.

Yeah not bad! So what are your thoughts on 2025? lol

If Colapinto drove the entire season he would easily top the leader board - he only drove 9 races this year

Two outta three ain't bad, as they say!

I'm keen for next year, I genuinely don't know have a clue how it's going to shake out, which is weird in F1. McLaren and Ferrari both have a good shot at being fastest, but both tend to make mistakes. Red Bull have been more consistent, but they seem to be on a downward trajectory with car performance. Mercedes I expect to improve, but possibly not at the pace needed to be in the mix with the front runners over the season.

My prediction is it's a fight between Lando and Charles. Charles is the better driver, but Ferrari will cost him points with strategy errors. I expect Lewis will initially be the second driver with Oscar, but hopefully get closer to the front as he gets used to the new team and car over the course of the season. Max and George likely to take race wins, but won't have the car behind them to challenge the championship over the course of the season. Max will get desperate to make up for the car and go full Mad Max mode and cause some contentious incidents and examining of the rules. Lawson will disappoint, Antonelli I honestly know nothing about.

Alternatively, Newey delivers another god tier car for Aston, Alonso hits the age barrier and declines in performance, Stroll 25, Stroll 26, Stroll 27... 😜

AM will never be taken seriously until they get rid of Stroll. If Stroll were driving for Sauber, then it wouldn't be a problem but now Aston wants to be serious. They need to get a real 2nd driver.

It appears Perez is definitely GONE, Lawson to take his seat.

they're negotiating a divorce fee, I'm happy for Checo for holding the line. Rumor has it that he's holding out for +60M EUROs. Red Bull deserves what it gets. If it wasn't for Max, Carlos would have been the #2 driver and well positioned to take back the constructors championship. We'll see what happens next, but this is the result of his insecurities.

Max, insecure? That's a very bold claim. You can call Max many things but insecure or afraid of competition are obviously not among them.

The blame falls squarely on Red Bull for re-signing Perez, even when he was severely underperforming. Subsequent driver issues are solely because of that ridiculous decision. I could buy that they may have chosen not to sign Carlos because of animosity between Jos (who holds too much power because he has influence on Max) and Sainz's father, or just because they want a driver who will be a clear #2 to Max so that he doesn't explore other options, but I can't buy that Max wasn't prepared to go up against Carlos. He knows he would win that match up.

I’d like to think that Max was wrong about the pro British press and then I read this irritating headline. It’s not Lewis Hamilton’s car, it’s Ferrari’s car. And what about Charles?
This is from ESPN.

Get used to it because it's all going to be about Hamilton for at least the first half of the season. Everything that happens, good, bad or immaterial will center around him.

I'm already sick of hearing about him and the season doesn't start till sometime next year!

Hoping maybe I suffer a stroke so I have an excuse not to watch.
