Exactly why they should show him the door now and bring in someone who actually wants to race.
Like dsio mentioned, Mercedes don't have anyone good that can replace him. On top of that, Lewis has a contract that Mercedes has to pay and will be expensive to get rid of. I'm sure the Mercedes sponsors would also rather have a checked out Lewis in the car vs anyone else.

I have this box in my living room waiting for an appropriate space to build and display it... I have itchy building fingers!

Hi all,
I apologise in advance as I know this post may upset some of you but seeing as "gostang9" mentioned Danny Ric being favoured by RB I just have to say it. I have thought this for a while now and so far this season has cemented my feelings on it which is whilst Danny Ric might well be a great bloke and a huge character in F1 he just can't make it at the top level any longer. Since leaving RB with two disastrous moves it's all over for him now and I don't think he needs to think about or worry about the RB seat for 2025 as I doubt he will still be in F1 then.

It's really strange isn't it, as I think he was killing it in the RB sim and was posting times very close to Max as I understood it (or at least that was the rumour). But now he's got the seat at RB Cash App Blah Whatever he seems to be showing Renault / McLaren form. Can't understand it. I still suspect he'd be doing a better job than Perez in the 2nd RB. Was very surprised he didn't get that seat for this season. But on this current form it's perhaps easier to see why they stuck with Perez (plus I'm sure the Mexican sponsorship money doesn't hurt, especially when Max has proved that he can win the championship all by himself pretty much).

I gotta say I agree. As much as I like the guy, I almost forget he's even back in F1...
He'd probably be a good fit for Indy or even Nascar. Hell, put him in the Australian Supercar series!

I always thought the Mclaren move was the bad move. If he would've stayed at Renault/Alpine who were building the whole team around him, he would've still been a good driver. Once he moved to Mclaren and got beat by Lando, he was completely shot.

There seems to be a free-for-all now for who signs Carlos Sainz.....Mercedes Benz or Red Bull. I think he would be a great replacement for Checo and could push Max in the years to come, assuming Max stays at RB. MB isn't a very good outfit right now (management and machine) so I don't know how keen Sainz would be to want to go there. You could throw McLaren into the equation, too. But something is going to happen sooner rather than later as far as Sainz's future is concerned.

Checo was knocking his door down today. I dont think anyone can get close to max as the car is built around him for the most part. I cant see Sainz signing there, but who knows.

Stroll really needs to find a new hobby as F1 isnt working out for him

Stroll is one of the reasons I don't really like F1. Too much people on the track who dont belong there

Hi all,
I know it's still really early in the season and maybe this should wait for the summer break but with so many drivers out of contract at the end of the year who do you think should not get a drive for the 2025 season. Here are my prime candidates to lose their F1 drives.

1) Daniel Ricciardo
2) Logan Sargeant
3) Lance Stroll
4) Nico Hulkenberg
5) Kevin Magnussen
6) Guanyu Zhou

This IMO would be good for F1 and allow an influx of the up and coming talent to join F1 nice and early.
Whilst I'm at I know Sainz is now looking for a drive for next season but Mercedes would be a really bad move IMO.

I agree for the most part on who shouldn't be coming back. Realistically, I can see 2 out of the 4 of Stroll, KMag, Hulk, and potentially Ric (if he's willing to drive for a lower level team) finding a drive somewhere at a backmarker/midfield team.

Nico is the only guy on this list that I feel still has somewhat of shot at performing better.

I have recently been watching an interesting eight part series on discovery+,Risky, that’s the title not the content.it’s the story of Bernie Ecclestone and his life in F1. He is giving the full story of F1,all the details of driver recruitment, team management and ruling body manipulations. He himself dishes the dirt on fellow movers and shakers in 1960/70/80 F1.I don’t know if this is still the norm today as it was then, but I think it’s all still possible.Remember Abu Dhabi!

1) Daniel Ricciardo - Hate to say it, but yeah he is not able to return to his previous performance, he should be consistently beating his teammate.
2) Logan Sargeant - Williams needs someone who brings in as much sponsorship money as he does, and most rookies will not be able to at this time.
3) Lance Stroll - His stats are not horrible, just inconsistent tough call on this one, considering the sponsorship...
4) Nico Hulkenberg - Car is junk will he will get the Audi seat, they need an experienced development driver and he is it.
5) Kevin Magnussen - Also a contender for Audi...
6) Guanyu Zhou - Brings in way to much sponsorship money at this time to be let go.

7) George Russell- Can’t pay attention enough behind Alonso to not wreck his car. Can’t make a clean pass on Piastri because his patience wears thin.
