SO here are the pictures and I apologize for the quality. As mentioned, my goal for 2020 is to learn to take better pictures.

Looks like quite a few of us here bought the Baltic Aquascaphe! I have to say it's a pretty good neo-vintage diver, checks many boxes.

Fantastic thread! It made me go back and take stock, realizing I did pretty well in terms of my main 2019 goal: focus in the collection.

6 sold, 2.5 purchased (explanation to follow)

I’d call that focusing!

That being said, every single watch sold was painful and every single watch purchased was joyful! Funny how that works...

Here be my year in review:

OUT:

IN:

As for .5 - just a little nostalgia:

May 2020 bring health and fruitful collecting to you all!

Best,

Richard

I was a pretty slow year for me. Not really that many pieces that are interesting enough. I think it was only these 3:

This GMTII was purchased early in the year and got a lot of wrist time:

The I added the Turtle and changed out the crystal to a high dome coated:

Finally, the Arnie reissue came in and this has been on my wrist for the past several weeks:

So that was my goal for 2019, and it didn’t go as planned.

A few things happened on the way to the forum...

Not sure what 2020 bring...

How did everyone else end up?

The Rolexes look great, but the AP is the stand out. Great collection!

I had an awesome year
I won a son in law in July and a daughter in law in October
2 keepers!
Son in law below-acquired him in Tuscany in July-loves Rolex + Breitling, but really wants one of my old Speedmasters! A definite maybe. He's wearing a Breitling Navitimer
As wedding presents he bought himself a new Sea Dweller + bought my daughter an older Explorer

Well, a strange year I'd say. Started off losing my job. Made a deal with my folks that I'd renovate their first floor if they bought materials and let me bunk while I hunted for new work. Did some freelancing working on a friend's airplane. (Also bought a new toolbox)
Helped a buddy build a horse barn.

Enjoyed the renovation project

The above is the in-process shot of moving the entertainment system to a different wall and hiding all the wires. That's 7.25" pine shiplap (mom and dad are very fond of American Craftsman and old farm style homes) so I designed them some custom window trims of New Zealand pine.

Below is a photo of brother #3 who is Army reserve and a CNC Machinist helping me with a beautiful slab of pine which was eventually mounted towards the top of the wall as a speaker shelf. Mounted with floating stud fasteners. Also a shot of a little side project for spare oak ply...

Threw a bachelor party for my youngest brother (#4) for which I made some regulation size Cornhole boards. Above is brother #2 with my dad's father Leo.
Here's the man of the hour. What a stud

Reunited with the woman from whom I'd parted ways a year ago. Going well so far, but she doesn't understand how I can just read about watches all the time. I quip that I also read about airplanes all the time by her supposition and that, by definition, "all the time" cannot possibly be allocated to two separate things and so therefore she lies...but at least she's pretty.

Walked into a really great job with knowledgeable and kind people still working on/in/with airplanes and enjoying it. Now looking forward to heading back home for Christmas to see my parents, brothers, sisters-in-law, and my darling niece. Here she is learning with my mom who is a speech pathologist.

I hope you all had a better year than I did. If you didn't I hope my story might encourage you to anticipate and work towards improvement/relief. Could always be worse!

Cheers all!

PS...I bought this little trinket

This has been a busy year for me, it might be too much work to wrangle up all the pics in one place, but I'll try.

Picked up a Yachtmster in March as a trade for my extra GSOTM.

In April I picked up a 1913 Hamilton pocket watch for my brother's birthday.

That same week in April I did a partial trade of the Yachtmaster towards a Rolex ceramic Pepsi GMT II

In May I bought a 1998 Speedmaster Pro 3572.50 for my son's birth year watch, to give next May for graduation

In June I picked up a Scurfa Diver One in a bake sale on the forum to raise money for Watchdaddy1

Then in July I did a partial trade of my SubC ND for the SD43

Also in July I picked up a Luminox chronograph to match my 3-hand version that I bought 5 years ago

Then in August I bought a 3-month old Tudor Pepsi GMT from a forum member, and added a bracelet

In September I snagged a Timex Q and Seiko "Save the Seas" Turtle

In October I snagged a used Hamilton GMT at half price

In November I snagged a new Luminox at half price

I also won an Oris 65 November LE in November

Arriving last week in December was a Glycine Combat Sub that I pre-ordered in June

Around the same time I received a pair of Hodinkee Swatch 1986 limited (still in the boxes, www pics here)

And arriving next week is an Aquadive Bathyscape GMT LE that I pre-ordered in September

My Rolex Deep Blue had a 50:50 chance of being here before the end of the year, so we will see...

Top four in 2019...
my job as PR freelancer was not that exceptional in 2019, but I had luck to find some interesting and more uncommon pieces for my small collection.
All thought as longtime keepers, but unfortunately I have to sell the 35mm Longines three tacche with the beautiful box at the end of the year to raise some funds for 2020 watch season...

Longines "disco volante"

Universal Geneve Monodatic (with cyclop)

Marvin Motorist (unsigned) with an unique case design

Longines 3T in 35mm

One last purchase - couldn’t resist. A bargain 1601 1 owner from new, full set & papers and a nice little rolex catalogue from the period too. Crystal has some scratches, but otherwise nice..

That’s the problem with this hobby - it’s like my trying to lose weight.... Just when I’ve slimmed down, along comes something tasty - and there goes the diet!

If that picture were in black and white it could be 1945 ... which is about the best compliment I can give to anything. Congrats.

Tudor BB is out
Three turtles, explorer and swatch are in. I think I'm at the stage of fine tuning my collection.

Downsizing has that strange effect of wanting simpler watches. My 2019 has basically been this watch. Spartan.

Hopefully 2020 sees a GMT.

2019 was a very slow year for me.
One in one out. Try to bid on some "barn"find watch without success.

Mint condition rolex gmt is out to fund my Japan trip.

And just purchased this interesting seiko gmt 6117 8000.

Hope 2020 will do better.
