I have started my wife on a collection of watches. Or rather, I collect them, and give them to her! Many of these are refugees from the scrappers that required a LOT of work. Most of them I have bought as scrap, and spent a lot of time, but little money, in resurrecting them for her.
From the top, an Omega 14-karat white gold Sapphette, synthetic sapphire crystal tinted pastel blue, dial re-finished, circa mid-1960s. Worn out and badly rusted when acquired, bought for scrap, her # 1 favourite.
Next, Omega, circa 1955, 14-karat yellow gold case. Nice, but not her favourite.
Next, Mars, white gold filled, 1927, given by my late father to his mother that year. More important to me than to my wife.
Next, White gold filled Longines, circa early 1930s, acquired cheap, as a basket case. She doesn't wear it, but it would be very reliable.
Next, 14-karat Gruen, circa late 1920s, sterling silver dial, vitreous enamel numerals, acquired as a basket case, for scrap, missing a diamond. One of my faves, but she doesn't like the bracelet.
Next, 14-karat white gold Omega Sapphette, marquise shape synthetic sapphire crystal, circa mid 1960s. Bought from a dealer for what he had into it, glad to move it. This one was acquired virtually NOS.
She has others which I may post, sometime.
