Looks great. Congratulations on the new watch.
Thanks!
Lovely AT, congratulations. It seems you saved yourself some money.
Thanks! I definitely did. Bought it with 20% discount from the current price, so it's like 28% cheaper from Monday.

Just bought the Aqua Terra at my AD. They already have the new price in their system - was 26600 PLN, is 28700 PLN (~8% increase). 43Kke5G.jpg

Congrats on a beautiful watch. I snuck in with my AT just under the wire also. Always wanted one, and had like you planned on picking it up for my March birthday, but now seemed as good a time as any, and better than most.

Happy birthday-in-advance to us!

Prices are indeed going up. I've confirmed this with two respectable AD's in my country (Poland) - one told me that before I even asked. From what I heard, we should expect an 8% increase on average, so later today I'm picking up my Aqua Terra I was planning to get on my birthday (march).

For comparison, Longines watches will go up 13% on average.
13% for all Longines? That’s a nice chunk of change.

Thanks! Congrats to you too and happy birthday in-advance as well 😀

Not sure whether 13% goes for all or just selected models, but I'm sure that each one will be pricier - by 13% or less.

Have always thought it's pretty cheeky to raise prices on models ordered years ago that Omega has trickled out agonizingly slowly for reasons best known to itself.

OTOH, this just means that all those thousands of pipedream Snoopy owners-to-be will merely be paying a bit more in pipedream funds to own that Snoopy...

Fifteen years ago I ordered a white gold Daytona with meteorite dial from an AD in Houston, they didn't have one in stock and had to order one from Rolex with delivery some unknown months in the future. I made the deal contingent on my paying in full and that that was the final price, if there was an increase it would be covered by the dealer. They agreed with that and I cut them a check for the full amount. It took a couple of months but it worked out fine. I think making a full payment with no firm delivery date, and being subjected interim price increases, is a bad idea. Some people will be waiting three years or more to get their watch.

look at the new build housing market. There are numerous stories of builders now telling people with deposits to fork over an extra 100K or take their deposit back and pound sand.

I did a major home renovation from late 2020 to early summer 2021 and it was amazing how quickly the cost of materials went up. Lumber prices in particular went through the roof.

Those are reserved for AAFES guys, some usually flip to make a quick buck so shop around.

Speedmasters have not been available for a long time. The 3861s were available for a short while after they first came out but have disappeared since then.

I've finally pulled the trigger on the Speedmaster 3861 Sapphire on bracelet with a 5% discount from my local AD - he confirmed that tomorrow the price in the UK will rise to just under £6500 which is between a 5% to 6% increase.

Nicely done -- you've saved between 10 - 11% in that single day!

My very rough calculations in CAD pricing at MSRP have the Tudor BB58 on bracelet going up from 3950.00 to 4430.00, or just over 12% since it's introduction around 4 years ago. By comparison, the SMP Diver on steel will have gone up (IIRC) more than double that -- perhaps even a bit more after the upcoming price rise. Both fine watches in high demand, but one has remained well under 5k in Canada while the other is well on its way to the 7 - 8k mark.

Not sure what other comparable might be in terms of similar brands, but it sure has become pricy to get into that new Omega.

The watch market is on fire right now. The price increases are across the board.

Also with regards to the BB58 vs the SMP Diver, the latter is punching far beyond its weight and a price hike is easily justifiable. The BB58 is a stellar watch, but I’d have serious purchasing-doubts if I see Tudor jacking up the prices.

Agree, SMP is in a different league from Tudor BB, it is more comparable to a Rolex and has been a relative bargain for a while. SMP was probably relatively underpriced when it was released against other watches in the market. Just hold the SMP next to the Tudor, the level of finishing on the case is noticeably superior. This is not a knock against Tudor, just saying the Omega is a level up.

Oh, I agree for the most part, although I think the ongoing waiting lists for BB58s of pretty much every flavour suggests that they'd still sell well at higher prices. I owned the 2018 SMP for three years, and thought it was an excellent watch for the price I paid for it then (CAD 5400.00). I'm not sure that I'd buy it at today's price of CAD 7k or more. If I were a first-time buyer looking for a luxury diver in that 5k bracket, I'd likely regard Omega as well out of reach -- 2 - 3k less buys me a Black Bay or Super Ocean, and 2 - 3k more gets me into interesting territory for higher-end watches.

But everyone has their price thresholds, and they''re obviously moving quickly -- when I bought my AT 41mm a few weeks ago my AD had none in stock and just under a dozen in various sizes and dial colours pre-ordered, and while they had quite a few SMPs on rubber, there was nothing but white and grey on the steel -- again, back-ordered. So I guess we'll see what happens tomorrow with this next price bump -- and perhaps again in May, and then in October, and then....?

Where are you finding waiting lists for BB58s? They were but not anymore. Most are readily available and if you wait for mint ones on used market they can be had for a bargain. The charm has worn off and the world has moved on. Just my 0.02

Couple of months wait is nice! What was the retail of a white gold Daytona meteorite 15 years ago?

PS Liking that 3575.20 in your avatar. Mine should be arriving tomorrow.

MSRP of a white gold Daytona with bracelet and meteorite dial in 2007 was $32,500. Back then gold Rolex's were often discounted. Cash price was $26,000. The good old days.

That 3575.20 in my avatar is a one off mod; a Gemini IV blue bezel, blue baton hands instead of Broad Arrow hands and sapphire back. Cream, not white, Speedmaster dials are pretty rare but super good looking.

Don’t really want to drag this out, but a while back started to phone round Tudor dealers in Canada looking for a non-WIS friend who was interested in a 58 navy or 925 for his anniversary. No one had the silver version, which were deposit only. And he’s still waiting for a new one nearly 3 months later. Same thing with the FXD.

Again, I am not arguing for an equivalence between models or marques. Just noting that Omega’s pricing strategy seems to involve a steady and r relentless push upwards, one that in some markets is taking it a long away from where it was even 3-5 years ago.

But they obviously know what they’re doing, so more power to ‘em, I guess.

I honestly feel like a bit of this is Omega finally taking the market position they rightfully deserve. Yes, the increases over the last 2.5 years have been big, but the relative quality of the watches justifies it when you compare to other watches. If you have seen an Ed White 321 in the flesh, it is gorgeous and above the quality of a Rolex. The Apollo 8 and Apollo 11 50th (both steel and all gold) are also stunning. The SMP punches above its weight. This is a recalibration of the brand that is rightfully deserved. Even with the recent price increase, I don’t know of a better diver than SMP in a somewhat similar price range even if willing to spend 2 to 3k more. The new Seamaster 300 is also beautiful.
