I paid retail for my NTTD just a little while back. I opted to buy my watch new at an Omega boutique in PA as apposed to buying from an authorized jeweler in Delaware. I paid 6% sales tax on my purchase. I agree with you about the %. If that tax was an issue for me, I had no business being in the store. Well it looks like I got that tax back today. I'm kidding. But it feels like someone just stepped in line behind me and the lume on the dial is shining a little brighter.
Yeah, glad my Snoopy showed up in January and not June....

nobody pays retail anyway.

If that was true Omega boutiques would have zero sales. And we know that is not the case.

Snoopy's, EW321's, and most Rolex's and Patek Philippe's are sold at retail. Even a FOIS and the white dial carry little discount these days.
That's assuming that you can even find a FOIS or white Speedy anywhere!

I know that my local AD has not had either one yet, the only ones they have seen are mine that I got from a Boutique.

Well, there is that certain segment of overly wealthy society that feel they get more by paying more so it makes them feel extra specialier!
Sorta like Rolex' marketing model, you know.

MSRP for a 321, Snoopy, FOIS or white 3861 beats what flippers are trying to get for them.

An ignorant statement. There are lots of people who don't feel comfortable buying items worth thousands of dollars through the internet or from some rando on Facebook marketplace. They want to try on the item. They want to know they are getting an authentic item. They want to know the item is new. They want the item covered under warranty and they want to know who to see if something goes wrong.

I've purchased the vast majority of my watches pre-owned and online. But I'm not normal. I'm a watch fanatic and probably know more about watches than most sales associates at watch shops. But I understand people who don't have this level of knowledge and just want to buy a really nice watch without unnecessary risk.

I'll never forget Bond 60th's announcement price of 7,900 $Usd. When it came out in February/March it went up to $8,300 in 2023. I got mine in July of 2024 for that price, today it goes for $8,800. That's a monumental jump.

When this watch came out it was CHF 7900.
Today it is still CHF 7900.

The price increase in US$ is all about currency exchange rates (aka $ devaluation) and tariffs.

It is exchange rates and inflation, but tariffs aren't in any of the latest increase. It will take months for any tariffs to be sorted out, we will likely end up where we started after all the huffing and puffing is over.

The 31% tariffs for Switzerland are not yet in effect (postponed for 90 days).
But there's a 10% tariff for all countries that already is effective.
So, yes there tariffs are hitting (although not that hard)

Correct. Swatch has said directly that prices are going up because of tariffs.

https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/s...in-response-to-rising-swiss-franc-and-tariffs

"A Swatch Group spokesman confirmed that the company was raising prices on some brands, citing "two main reasons" for the increases: the dramatic shift in exchange rates between the U.S. and Swiss currencies and increased tariffs."

What specifically do you find ignorant?

I've purchased all 5 of my Omegas grey from DEC 2022 till now brand new.

60% off TT YG Globemaster on bracelet for 5.85K USD before Tax March2025.

60% off wife's 36MM Constellation Rhodium Metas for 2.95K USD May 2024.

Chrome SMP for 4KUSD Feb 2023.

The Speedmaster Racing 40MM was 3K and Deville prestige 36.8 was 1.95K after taxes.

Glad I bought before the trade wars and weak dollar v Francs.
Just need two leather straps to complete my collection.

I didn't even look at the receipt for the 57 bracelet I just bought. 910.52 with tax but I never knew exactly what the price was going to be anyway. 3 of my last 5 came directly from the OB, because there was no other way to get the white 3861, FOIS and Snoopy at msrp. But my Diver 300, NTTD and hesalite 3861 were bought NIB online, because it's crazy to buy the common ones at retail.
