Original owner of my SMP 2254.50

So I’ve had my watch back for a few weeks now, on my service card it says it’s running +1 sec a day. But I’ve been seeing -1 sec a day depending on how I lay it down at night. If I lay it crown up I get -1 if I lay it face up -1, if I lay it crown down it loses 3 seconds. I haven’t tried face down. Is this something I should be concerned about? I understand it’s just a watch but when you pay a lot for a watch then a service you would expect better.

This is totally normal, and your watch is running well. Respectfully, I suggest putting away your timegrapher and just enjoying the watch.

No time grapher just checking it in the morning with the atomic time. But I understand. Thanks for your input.

Well hopefully it is just magnetized, getting that fixed is way cheaper than a service. Great pic btw!

Classic watch! It was my first Omega and I still have it. It is the most-comfortable watch I own. And although I am not an accuracy freak, mine is within 1 second per week!

Love that silver bezel. Are those applied indices? Are those available for an upgrade to an existing 2252.50?

The watch he showed is the 2230.50, known for boring historical reasons as the 'Non-AC'. The bezel insert is in fact solid white 18K gold with raised numbers and the dial has a AML and raised applied lume plot wells. That model It is to my mind the all time high water mark of the SMP. Once upon a long ago modding a sword hands model like the 2254 with the dial from this model was quite popular. Lets be honest, Omega probably nicked the idea for this look (and that of the preceding America's Cup) from the Rolex Yachtmaster but to my mind they did a better job.

Note, It is a 41mm model, I see you are asking about 'upgrading' a 36mm black bezel/dial Sword hands model. In fact there was a 36mm version of the non-AC which is seen mostly in Japan so yes in theory you could fit a 36mm SMP with the solid 18K bezel and applied plot/logo dial but be aware that those 2 parts will cost at a rough educated guess maybe $1,500 USD (with the bezel being over a grand of this total). So realisistcally, no, it is no longer sensible to do this. If you like the look of the non-AC in either size it is cheaper to buy one rather than mod towards it.

Wow! I learned something today. Didn’t know this generation had raised indexes. Really cool! Also didn’t know the bezel is 18k.

That was a large volume limited edition (9999 examples) which had a printed dial with different text and the more fussy Bond bracelet. This seems not actually as popular amongst collectors than the non limited follow on model, which by association became known as the non-AC. Indeed the non-AC routinely commands higher prices than the AC. The regular less gimmicky text and applied indices made that the one that hit the bullseye. I've had both and much prefer the non-AC over the AC or for that matter more utilitarian 2254, but of course opinions vary!

I did say it was called that for boring reasons!

There is a lot of goodies to choose from in the sword hands Seamasters : 3 or 4 different sizes in: steel, two tone, white gold, yellow gold or titanium. Chronos, GMTs and special dive functions. Black, blue, silver and white dials. Quartz and automatic.

Is the SAS version for sale very often? They did only make 300 of those correct? What’s the value now?

So I put my seamaster next to a compass and it cause the needle to move. It’s running at -6 seconds a day. That has to be the reason. It’s magnetized.

Very unlikely...and a compass has a magnet inside, so it will be attracted to anything ferrous...

It’s just odd that I can set it 5 seconds fast and by the next morning it’s running 5 seconds slow.

Yea it’s going back. It’s now running -15 seconds. I paid for a service and it should be doing better than this.
