Original owner of my SMP 2254.50

Hello, I recently purchased a SMP 2254.50 from watchvaultnyc. This watch has been my grail since I saw it for the first time back in 2005. I loved the dial and the sword hands. I purchased it in September of 2022. I purchased a 2006 model. It’s not the latest greatest model with ceramic and METAS certified, but this watch has been on my mind for 17 years and I decided to pull the trigger. Shortly after purchasing it I called Omega and asked them if they had any service history on it. They said no. Mine didn’t come with a Omega box or cards so I have no background on it. It is currently with an Omega service center and from what I have been told I should have it back sometime next week. I know it’s a long shot but I thought maybe I would have some luck finding the person who owned it before me, maybe to get some history on it. The thought of having it polished and brushed appealed to me, just so the new scratches and bumps would be for me, my own stamp on the watch. It will be used as intended, daily wear, trips to the park, pool, and beaches with my family. Daily wear to work. I’m not a fan of the metal band so it will be fitted onto a nato as soon as it is in my possession. I know it’s just a watch but a little history would be nice. Not sure if I should post the serial number because I know counter-fitters are looking for that info.

It’s definitely a long shot, but you never know.
Great watches though and I like mine on a nato too.

There are maybe hundreds of thousands of those out there, yours look just like every other. Unless it has a defining feature like and inscription, you will never find the previous owner without posting the serial, and there is very little chance even if you do. Post it, there is no risk to you or the watch owning public at large. Lack of a viable serial is not what stops fakers making believable watches. I've owned two 2254s, maybe it was mine!

I had one of these with the exact same reference. Yours looks remarkably similar! Sarcasm aside these are in my opinion a really great reference and my fist sight of one of these was in Moscow in 2002 after which I had to own one. Classic and understated the sword hands look fantastic. I do regret moving mine on and I have to admit to harbouring a hankering to acquire another while they still represent such outstanding value. Enjoy yours in good health!!!

Good pick! This is my choice too for daily wear. I always liked the wave dial and dagger hands. It's a very practical watch, very legible. While I've experimented with NATO straps I decided I prefer the metal bracelet and that's the way it is. I hope you enjoy yours as much.

Congrats! Sword hands are the best hands. Pity they don't do that anymore. Am I too hopeful for a reissue?

Congratulations! It's a great watch indeed. I got mine some years ago, it came with box and papers. It was sold to a company in Langley Virginia, I tried googling them, but they were sort of gone.
I think it looks really great on your stap, but it looks good on a black NATO too.
But you should give the bracelet a chance, its comfortable and looks great.
But this watch looks great on almost anything. This is a strap from a Citizen diver.
And finally, my choice for summer, a fake AT rubber strap.

I did buy into the hype of the Omega Nato, and I got 2 of them and bond black and grey and the military green. I’m a vet and a green nato is a no brainer for me. Thanks for all the pictures and responses. I don’t really think I’ll find the original owner but I thought I would take a chance.

Yes, it was a nice little flight through the black mountains a few weeks ago. Unfortunately the weather has been too crap to fly since then 🙁

That’s awesome, I haven’t been in the air since I left Afghanistan, well I take that back I took a flight from Nashville to San Francisco back in 2015. But I would love to be back up in the air in a small aircraft. Or even a small boat in the middle of the ocean.

Sometimes best to leave it to your imagination, as the reality might be unsettling 😁

Love it, wear it and if you don’t uncover its history, don’t lose sleep over it. You’ll add your own bumps and bruises to a piece with its own history-earned marks. The watch is yours now and sounds like it will be forever. Congratulations! My 2254 is from 2008 and likely the one piece I will keep above all others.

I would refrain from polishing your watch. Keep those lugs sharp! And mine has been on a bracelet since new. In fact, it’s the only watch I own that remains on its original bracket. It’s so comfortable

Enjoy!

Well I can’t to much about the polishing now, because the service is done. But my plan from now on it to not polish it any more. I don’t think one polish in 16 years is bad. But yes this will be the watch I wear daily. The one I give to one of my sons when my time here is done. As much as I would like another watch so I have 2 I try to keep things simple. I try to buy quality items that last. And for 1 watch to stay in my mind as long as this one has I know it’s the one for me.

Congrats. Watchvaultnyc sold me my favorite Seamaster too.

Did you get a certificate from them? That’s a nice watch btw!
