·Hello everyone,
I'm looking to purchase a first vintage Omega and was hoping to get some help in assessing some pieces. I've narrowed my search to a Seamaster 600 or 30, from the 1950s to 60s. I'm looking for a SS case and preferably a hand winding movement and no date window.
I found this piece on ebay:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Om...631323?hash=item422224141b:g:3sMAAOSw-1NfdCPr
Case:
Looks to be fairly sharp. Perhaps it was lightly polished at some point, given the minimal scratching. One of the photos may show some very slight rounding on the lugs.
Dial:
Looks to be in great shape, apart from a few blemishes. Perhaps it was re-dialed at some point. If so, it looks to be a faithful reproduction. One of the photos appears to show some slight pitting.
Hands:
Some slight oxidation on the seconds hand, but otherwise great condition, including black insets.
Crown:
Does not appear to be original.
Movement:
601 hand winding. Looks clean to my eye. Correct for ref 135.011. Service history unknown,
The only detractions that I find are the marks on the dial and the replacement (?) crown. This is otherwise the configuration that I would like to find. In your opinion, are the dial marks acceptable and something that become less noticeable when on the wrist? Also, do these appear for sale with enough frequency that one can afford to wait and be picky?
Please let me know what you think. Thanks for your time!
