Your thought on LeCoultre POWER reserve , Cal481 please

Hi guys
Please can I have your thought on the watch. I love how the watch look especially the hands, and lume (not sure if it is relumed?)
The watch is 34mm excluding the crown. The movement serial no is 9660xx which i think date the watch around 1953. It has the number 592849 on the outside of the case back ( not sure what is the number indicated). How do I find out the case reference for the watch?
The movement look clean but i wonder if the Automatic marking is in the correct place? ( I have seen them at the endge of the movement, not in the centre like this one).
Also any thought on the price, seller is asking 900 USD.

Also worth posting on the forums at classicwatch.com. It is run by Zaf Basha who is considered one of the most knowledgeable collectors on vintage JLC's. I also sought out his advice before I bought mine. Good luck馃憤

I've got one from 1953/54 with the text in the middle, just like yours. Looks like same font and same position, so I wouldn't worry too much. Your's looks great, enjoy wearing it!

But what i meant was the position of the "Automatic" text on the movement.
For this cal I have seen the text position around the blue circle area ( see the picture attaches)... just wonder if this is a common variation 馃榾

I would say maybe $800-900 max for one with a better dial since it is not a JLC but a LeCoultre.

I think I will try negitiate on the price and see what happen. By the way do you know what is the case reference for this model, will it be marked somewhere in the watch?

Hey Ko,

Sorry, misread your post there! I've seen others with the word automatic in the same spot on the rotor, so think this one looks fine. If the price were right I'd say go for it. Mine has made a great daily wearer and am sure this one would too

There is nothing wrong with the watch. Everything looks as it should. I think the serial number starts with 88 or 86. Easy to make a mistake as all of the numbers in the serial makes sense upside-down and right-side up, with all the 8's, 6's and 9's. Probably dates from 1951 or 1952.

I think price needs to come down a couple of hundred before it becomes a good buy. If the condition was the same as Kyle's, maybe.
