Remind me this one... Hopefully you will fine a better one soon...
That is simply lovely. Yours? If yes, dibs in case you ever decide to sell.

Okay - I've spent some time on the dial and want to see if the things I'm picking out are correct. Given that I'm new at this, trying to hone my instincts.

1. The logo is off (as @DirtyDozen12 indicates). It looks like the font of the signature is slightly off, and it's not nearly as clean and crisp as it should be. I have found pictures of the actual signature for this watch and side by side it's obvious.
2. It looks to me like the lume is both "wrong" and sloppy on the hands. It doesn't seem to match from the hands to the indices (or dots by the indices in this case), and beyond that it's not cleanly applied to the hands in any discernible shape.
3. The absence of any patina on the dial. I originally (incorrectly) assessed this as "even patina", when in reality there is no patina at all. It doesn't seem to match with the aging on the remainder of the elements of the watch.

Anything else that makes this jump out as a redial? Thanks again!

Jrhave2, the first point you underlined is enough to tell it is a redial. We could discuss the other points, but the fonts or the logo are off and the quality is too bad.

(Actually, ConelPueblo and others have already explaned that.)

Sad to say I believe he knew exactly what he was doing. 25 years in business and this is such an obvious redial.

Just for the records
I found this one in Bahrain when I was scouring the old souq - but it was way too expensive so I passed
(And it seems obvious now that the crown is a replacement)

Here is mine, purchased on ebay for about $400.
Dials for these, are around for pretty cheap, you can find an original dial! The watch dealer has a shop ? Does have overhead, but making a grand on top is a bit excessive IMHO !
It's unreal how much is out there that has been tampered with or refinished. At the moment, it seems there are more Frankensteins than genuine articles! Over the past week, I have learned more from this Forum than every other resource I've been using for a year. I'm hoping I can still work things out, but it seems my wife may have inadvertently paid the n00b tax! Never again!

I love those bumper watches from JLC. It's the calibre 851 if I'm correct and it's such a pleasure of feeling the watch while moving your wrist, makes you even more aware of wearing a mechanical piece 😀

I think it is likely a 481 (the first automatic caliber with a power reserve in a large production watch).
