Hello friends! Would love to get some opinions about whether this watch is worth the asking price. I've recently developed in interest in Horology and vintage watches specifically. I found this posting on Chrono24.com. The seller is a trusted seller out of Florida. Currently asking around $500 for this watch ... Picture: Unfortunately, this is the only picture available. What I Know: Jaeger Lecoultre Power Reserve Automatic watch Maker: Jaeger-LeCoultre from 1950 Dial : Silver Movement: Automatic Cal 481 bumper 17 Jewel Case: 35mm, 10 micron gold filed in good condition Band: Brown Leather Crystal: Plastic What I Need Help With: I don't know enough to understand if this is a good price, too good a price, etc. I don't know how to accurately judge if this is a wise purchase. Aesthetically I like the watch a lot. Though I know it's quite inexpensive by quality watch standards, $500 is unfortunately not a small outlay for me. Owned or Being Considered? Being considered. I have an offer outstanding that needs to be accepted by me in the next 3 days. Thanks for your help and advice!
Dial and hands look nice and original, should say "Swiss" at the bottom. Crown is likely not original, but if it signed "LeC", it could be. Correct caliber, but no clue on condition of movement. If it all checks out, not a outrageous price. gatorcpa
I agree with @gatorcpa's assessment. Considering that this represents a significant purchase for you, I would insist on additional pictures of the dial and movement before closing a deal. Chrono24 does not provide much in the way of buyer protection.
