Does it have the hologram? Ie the laser etched omega logo in a circle?

I’d expect a D to have that. I may be wrong but afaik the d was the later models and only the earlier ones had “sterile” backs with just the logo. I’d expect a d to look like this.... I might be wrong though.

Yes, I’m just a moron with screen captures. Is this better?

In my efforts to mask the serial number I forgot to zoom out. Now I’ve just posted the serial number. I hate being dumb.

As far as I can see the straps and bracelets all look to be genuine with the shark mesh to be a bit of a rarity.
The 2201.50 was also sold on the shark mesh but it was not a very common combination. And the model number would have been different. Looks like this owner put a bit of time and expense into this watch and straps. A good sign.
As for the price, if you can state it in US dollars for a better valuation.

Thanks for the info. I wasn’t aware of the shark mesh pedigree. Yeah, through back and forth messages the seller seems like an upstanding fellow. Price in USD is $3,335.

With the OEM straps and bracelets included a very reasonable price in my opinion.
Since the seconds hand tip has faded it most likely has not been serviced as Omega usually replaces the seconds hand for that reason.

Thanks Chap. I’m leaning towards a ‘yes’ on this piece. Any more sage advice, learned members?

I think for a verified D and the extra straps it seems a very fair price.

Later when/if these really go up the D will be the most desirable.

Thanks all. I’m pulling the trigger. I’ve been looking at a PO for many moons now and I think I’ve found the right seller and right watch. As ever, I appreciate the advice of those much more knowledgeable than I. Thank you!

I almost have a respectable Omega collection now...

Globemaster, SMP circa 2003, Speedy Pro, Speedy Mk40, 30T2, and perhaps now a PO.

Great set!!! I was just thinking a Pro, that PO and a globemaster makes a great modern trio.

Love the mk40!

The Blue SS Globe on leather is eye watering beautiful in my opinion. My SMP is an old girl but given to me by my parents at my RAF Wings grad in ‘03. I’m a sentimental fool but it’s my most treasured watch. She’s quite battered but I wore it for 7 tours of Afghanistan and 1 of Iraq. I think the scratches and bumps give her character.

Thanks Foo.

I’m looking at a this 2500D with a few extra straps (one horrible aftermarket, it appears to me). It’s on for CAD 4,500. Thoughts?

Don't be so quick to pull the trigger. This doesn't look like a 2500D. You can tell by the date wheel. Ask for the first 4 digits of the serial number. If it starts with 8525xxxx when there's a good chance you have the 2500D. Usually the date font is a dead giveaway though.

Thanks Man. I’ve written saying it’s a deal pending 2500D authentication. I have my reservations as well. From the photos it looks like the ref starts with 8485XXXX

Based on the serial number and date font, I would pass if you're looking for a 2500D

Drats! Do you think it’s a 2500C instead?

I do. 99.9% sure it's a C movement. If you call Omega and give them the SN they should be able to confirm.

And would the C movement be a no-go for you? I know it has it’s issues but perhaps they are largely blown out of proportion?

I had a C (the liquid metal LE is a C btw) and had no issues. Any A,B, or C that is going to have issue would have had them already. Wouldn't hurt to ask if it has been serviced or if it is running COSC time, but then again I would do that for a D as well.
