No it’s not. It’s related to the solar flight of Solar Flight Sunseeker around the world.

As stated, the audible features are unmatched for loudness. I set the PETs to indicate when I have scheduled meetings or conference calls. Most times I do not rely on the alarm, but it's nice to have. Having more than one alarm is also convenient as often I have to change my wake up time due to the need to adjust my departure times and travel to different locations in the am. In pure tool watch coolness, the X33 is in a unique category all of its own category, except perhaps the Z33.

The Skywalker "Solar" : is it solar powered? Has Omega marketed a solar powered watch?
Nope, it commemorates "Solar Impulse" flight around the world by solar-powered airplane.

Yes you’re right.
I wanted to correct it but you beat me to it ;-)

Omega's X33 is less of a complete solution than the typical G-Shock/Mudmaster: discuss
I have the skywalker, which I think is very different to the gen1. I never bonded with the gen1/2 either

as to the g-shock, well they do a lot of things the omegas don’t (yes the skywalker functions are unique and not found on any other watch), and there are many watches that do more things (all dwarfed by any old cellphone), but this is about watches so...
one’s a g-shock, the other is an omega speedmaster professional x-33 skywalker. Case closed

I have the skywalker GEN 3 myself. I am an airline pilot, and I use it for every trip, and I really love it. It was an interesting switch for me at first, because I’ve had mechanical watches since I was 22 years old, and I’m now almost 50. This is my first quartz watch, so that was different. Also this is my first titanium watch, and it took me about a day to get used to it, but now I love the lighter weight of the titanium watches. Mind you, I’m comparing this to a planet ocean Chrono, and while I don’t have the specs with me, it feels like the PO weighs five times the amount of the X-33. Ironically, I’m thinking of selling both of my Omegas, (I feel as though I have too many watches these days, and could use the money for other endeavors) but every time I look at my X-33 and wear it, I have second thoughts on doing so.
As for the G-shock comparison, I’ve never owned one, but this is a very, very different watch.

Yeah exactly my thoughts on the x33. Even though I don’t own one now, it’s on my list to celebrate the end of this forced grounding. did you take it for some swimming pool activities in lay over ?

I have not gone swimming with it, even though Omega certified it last fall when I had it serviced. Replaced battery, gaskets etc. I shouldn’t be scared, but I’m being very conservative. I need to just go for it.

X-33 Skywalker - Love It Or Hate It?

The X-33 is a great watch ... for someone else to own, wear, and appreciate.

I'm such a fogy that I enjoy watches that only tell me the time best of all. Chronograph features are occasionally fun to use on the Speedy. Otherwise I'm not really in favor of owning watches that are "feature rich." A paltry few day and day/date watches live here and I find those features to only be annoying. I'll set 'em, but don't consult em." Only one lonely quartz Seiko lives here for I admire mechanical watches best of all for my purposes.

You did ask.

I hear you and a big part of me agrees. I like the simplicity and beauty of a very accurate and relatively simple automatic. I have enough iPhones, tablets, computers, and other machines around to help me manage my life. I am also obsessed with accuracy, which is what led me to this quartz beauty. I didn’t think I’d like it as much as I did, but I am really enjoying it. I guess variety is the spice of life, and I do enjoy switching these out. cheers.

The beauty with the X-33 is that if you do not want any of the extra features or info, you can switch off the display... and voila: a time only watch.
I only have the Gen 2, and not the Skywalker, but it is a really really good watch. I have been wearing much more than I thought I would. Love the titanium, love the loud alarm, love the luminescent display at night, and just love the plain tool watch allure... along with all the extra features, if needed.

I love X-33s as they pretty much take anything I can through at them, but also, they are almost unique for Omega in that there are so many different military & service backs and each tell a story.

That is cool! When is was in flight school, my Dad engraved his beloved 1986 Rolex sub and gave it to me. He had always wanted to be a pilot and to this day it was the best gift I ever got.

Definitely following this thread as I'm planning to buy the X-33 for my Dad's 75th birthday, the only question is which one?? Personally I like the look of the Solar Impulse (and have seen some killer deals) but ultimately I think he'd prefer the more traditional metal bracelet and thanks to @duc for sharing his pics as it looks awesome on a black Nato strap too!

Back on the bracelet today. The NATO I posted came from Redux watches. Since making the purchases, it doesn't look like they ever restock their straps. It's funny too, since I receive routine blog style emails from them marketing some new thing or another. I wish they would simply restock. Well, if your father decides on a NATO ( @JetLinks ), Maratac has Ti hardware on a Zulu they offer that is perfect for the X33.

Edit: Better snaps

That's a pretty awesome looking watch regardless of the strap! Thanks for the tips on the Maratec straps and whilst I like the titanium components, I'm not a fan of the round/curvy hardware...... especially when you compare them to the flat edged hardware on your Redux straps which look AMAZING!!!

Anyone else know where I can get these Redux (or similar angled buckle design) from??? Perhaps I need to post in the specific straps posts.

The solar impulse is pretty cool and give the watch a very relax touch. Just beware that it’s only sold on nato. If he wants a bracelet he’ll have to buy it.

How do you guys do for those backs ? Are they hard to obtain from omega ?
