I am pretty sure they are both 85 dB. The G3 (as I call it) or Skywalker may be set with 3 alarms.
Thank you

I love my Skywalker - the one feature I a missing that previous generations seemed to have is the ability to turn the digital display off while still keeping the analog time display running.

As the above "duc" states: 3 alarms, adjustable without pulling out the crown, and I think the beep is a little less abrasive.

Anyone else had a Gen 1 or Gen 2 and the Skywalker and prefer the Skywalker?? Interested to hear why. And keen to hear those that prefer the NASA qualified versions.

I'm thinking of flipping my gen 2 for a Skywalker. Had my eye on the Skywalker since 2016. Id actually use the 3rd timezone as I travel a lot for work and need to track home, current zones and UTC. Would prefer to keep the Gen 2, but id likely have to sell it to fund the Skywalker.

It'd be a near daily driver, so Grade 5 vs Grade 2 is a notable difference as to how it wears/ages. Interested in any other thoughts on the different generations..

Grade 5 v Grade 2 you aren’t going to notice a difference really
Grade 2 is actually a more pure Titanium.
Grade 5 being a alloy with 6% Aluminum and 4% Vanadium

Both are commonly used Titanium grades and will do well in watch components and I would find it hard to say one is better than the other in a watch situation. They are both going to preform at nothing like the extremes they are capable of as a metal.

As a G3/Skywalker owner, the feature I use the most is the PET. I have a lot of meetings and conference calls. It's quick and easy to program them in at the beginning of a day. Although I rarely have to rely on an alert, it's nice to have them as backup.

I have a G2 and a Skywalker, the former is more ideosyncratic while the latter is a bit "Breitling". Skywalker is much better to read and use though so when I have a need for digital and timers it usually lands on the wrist.

Hey Everyone...
I’ve been a bit of a test pilot on both the Gen 1/2 and the Skywalker.
I would have to say that the Gen1-2 has a much brighter back light.
The Lume is also considerably brighter than compared with the
Skywalker.
The Gen1-2 does have a much different look when reading the face.
The circular readout is a bit eyeball twisting at first - compared to the
Style of the readout Of it’s ESA brother. I do like the Red Arrow second
hand of the Gen1-2. It is mesmerizing to a degree.
The bezel on the Gen 1 is of brighter polish than the 2. With a black wrist
strap it is a little jewel to behold.
The 2 with the duller finish on the bezel and pushers is more “Tech” Looking.
The new Crown on the 2 is a big improvement over that on the 1.
Both watches wear almost identical in feel.
Light...the Titanium is amazing. Though the glasp can be easily scratched.
I have been lucky so far.
The updated features of the Skywalker are useful.
I like the upgraded look of the display.
Both the Gen2 and the Skywalker feature evidence of their Space Pedigree
On the watch case backs. NASA and ESA. Both very Cool.
The Skywalker is more dressy than the 1-2.
Great for office wear.
The Gen1-2 is a better tool watch for evening or night wear. Visibility wise.

Both are great Wears. The Gen1-2 is more affordable $ But prices have risen
Of late. SPACEx has contributed to that. Figure on $2500.
Any 1 sent in for service will get the New Crown -pushers and the updated
New Movement. Worth every penny.
Battery life on my Gen 2 was superior to My Skywalker. A bit of a surprise there.
I tend to use the back light feature a lot. Hmmm.

The Other Horse in the Stable is My Z33 Space Master.
A horse with stripes ...Definitely Different.
That’s one that You Either Love or Hate. Always a conversation starter.
It’s an in your face Statement.
I love it.
But that’s a whole other story.

I ended up with a gen 1 x-33 for a great price. Its a great tool watch. The crown does require a hard press, but that is understandable to avoid constant menu triggers.

Congrats on the Gen 1 pick up. The brushed and polished combo on Gen 1 looks quite good and I really enjoy mine. If you are a heavy CDT user, I think Gen 1 will serve you well, as well as Gen 2 or Skywalker.

I have been doing DIY battery change on all my X-33 (and Breitling Aerospace when I have them). They are no more difficult than battery change on a G-Shock. Just work slowly to avoid damaging those tiny titanium caseback screws.

I do prefer the Gen 1 and 2 over the Skywalker cause Skywalker has a few "features" that I rather have it differently. Still a great watch, just my personal preference is leaning more towards Gen 1 and 2.

After six months of use, it is still my daily watch. It is very versatile. I don't really use the features of the watch as much as I thought I would. I just enjoy the titanium finish of the watch compared to my other stainless watches. It has a great balance to keep it from being too lightweight as I prefer watches with some heft to them. I paid a mere $950 for my gen1 full set, so I count myself as being lucky to nab a great deal when I did. I don't have any similar watches to compare it to, since I mostly collect vintage watches, but this is an excellent digital watch.

I was a happy owner of Breitling Aerospace Evo for couple of years. Until I got my X-33 Solar Impulse this December (bought new-old stock from AD at 40% off, that was nomen-omen an impulse buy on internet 😀). After 3 weeks of having them both today I sold my Evo on CH24.

TBH I do not use any of the incredible features of both -> I simply need a nice quartz for my weekend / fun / vacation days. And Love the X-33 a lot. It's not small, but not incredibly big either, regardless of what the specs are saying. And it's so light & legible. And fun looking (standard X-33 is a bit boring, but nice, do not understand me wrong).

Certainly 4-buttons make X-33 much more easier to use than Evo (everything is done with the crown), but as I said - not using the tons of features. Just liking the look.

Hate the NATO strap though (hate NATO's in general) -> 16mm thick watch plus 3-4mms of NATO makes it unwearable for me. That's why most of my time I wear mine on KIZZI velcro. Now planning to "rebuild" the NATO, so that there is no single or double strap layer underneath the watch. Frankly I am looking for inspirations how to do it, so any hints will be welcome 😀

Here below some photos of my baby.

I've been wearing one for a few months in rotation.
It's so light and doesn't feelike it's there is my favorite feature honestly.
I use the chrono for timing stuff and one alarm. I can't say I use anything else on it often.
My casio calculator alarm watch my mom got me for Christmas in 1985 does about the same thing though! Lol.

Question: does anyone else have the skywalker with "certified" by esa not the "qualified" on the back?
Mine says certified which was a misprint...
Apparently they changed it and a few got out first...

Most of the 2nd hand Skywalkers I've seen on C24 and elsewhere seem to be "certified". A few blogs say around 100 have the "certified" engraving before the switch to "qualified", but I wonder if it's even more than that based on the quantity I've seen over the last 6 months.

Coming full circle for me, 6 months on, I ended up getting a mint condition Skywalker that arrived last week. I already prefer it in almost every way to my Gen 2, which is going up for sale now (it's over on WUS, posted under the same username if anyone is interested (I don't have the required post count for this forum)).

Visually, the Skywalker looks more modern, and will wear a bit bit bigger optically with the black dial and bezel combo vs the Gen 2. I'm kinda looking forward to going back to work next Monday after 3 weeks of leave, just so I can really get to know it.

I love it! It replaced my trusty speedy as the daily beater, whenever I take it off I miss it right away!

As said before it wears a lot smaller than the size indicates (it is tall though, but nothing like a PO of the same size).

The titanium is very nice to wear, it is very light, and nice to the touch

The menus are easy enough to use and you get used to it quickly. If you get along with a G-Shock this will be no problem at all. The alarm is something to be experienced, it is loud (seriously, I can hear it in a noisy piston airplane and noisecancelled headphones).

The only thing about it is, this is not an elegant watch by any stretch of the imagination (it barely works with business shirts even when casual), it has a very tech vibe (which is fine but needs to be said).

In short, it is a really good watch (much better than in the pictures), my new favorite since the 6 months I have it!

I have a 1st Gen X33 and it serves me mostly in the role of bedside/nightstand alarm clock. I do wear it on rotation maybe every 6 weeks or so.

Maybe I've failed to bond with the X33 properly but you might like to help me answer the following question

"Omega's X33 is less of a complete solution than the typical G-Shock/Mudmaster: discuss"

I’ll comment on that.
Comparing Gshock to an x33 can seem okay but it is just not.
Yes, a shock can do some of the things the x33 can. It is Bluetooth and has 35 town time zone embedded in its system. Alarm, chrono, timer, etc.
Where the x33 kills it is in its pet and met function. Depending on your activities you may need it. As an airline pilot, it is useful. The timer and chronograph are also avail with the Gshock but the alarm is way louder and a cockpit in an modern airliner is loud believe it or not. You can set your nap wake up time, your nextt waypoint time, your duty flight time timer limit, holdover time if you want, meal time, hotel alarm clock, etc 😀
Being able to monitor gmt/home time/ local time in few actions on the pusher is very convenient, which the Gshock doesn’t offer.
the all titanium case is more comfortable than the rubber casing of the Gshock as it will not get stuck in you hand cuffs. The battery will not die making the watch good for rubbish, then the watch will last in time as long as you take care of it.
Yes the x33 is expensive and doesn’t offer the zaratsu thing that comes with grand seiko high precision quartz.
But it’s a compact tool for those who need it. It does well what it’s meant to do.

Thank you for responding so quickly and so fully. As my head hit the pillow last night scrolling through the menu on my Gen 1, I was reflecting that the Skywalker seems to offer a good deal more functionality. Strictly speaking I don't need all those extra features but when did watch purchasing hang on the word NEED?

The Skywalker "Solar" : is it solar powered? Has Omega marketed a solar powered watch?
