That's the way to do a Waltham wristwatch! I didn't know that the later incarnation of Waltham ever did anything like that.

Same 1962 era they produced this

Switch from angular to rounded. Or is it circular to squarish? 😵‍💫 Either way...fun! YaY!

If THAT'S not post farming I don't know what is!
Ok...maybe more like "Likes" farming but still...
Exactly! 😁

nothing like a cute pet opportunity or baby pics or both to boost the “likes“!!! Although I just like to share the beauty of both furry friends and complex machines…😀

I don't get out the staking set often, but this one had a broken lower pivot on the balance staff, and it's amazing how much easier it is to re staff a 16 size pocket watch than a 987s wristwatch due to the size of the parts. I have probably broken 4 or 5 of the smaller staffs while pressing on the balance wheels. Not my idea of a good time. Anyway, the GCT has a strong heartbeat again, which is enough. The hack wire does not reach the balance wheel. I suspect someone tried to service it and thought the wire was keeping it from running, so they bent it back from the wheel.🤦 The powertrain on this was so strong (even with plenty of hardened, ancient oil) that it could keep time with no lower pivot in a couple of positions. Great movements.

Friction fit balance staffs are so much easier to fit than the older riveted style.

The meteorite dial. One of my favourite LEs. I wonder how much they go for these days...off to have a look!
More than i had imagined.. a friend had checked recently. I bought mine at very close to the retail price years ago, cuz it was a great combination being a speedy AND a cool meteorite slice, collection of which I have and have shared before..

@keepschanging there are a couple of LE owners on the Forum who have a unique connection to the watch: @dougiedude who collects meteorites, and myself who discovered two asteroids in our solar system (from whence Earth-impacting meteorites are believed to have originated).
