I don't get out the staking set often, but this one had a broken lower pivot on the balance staff, and it's amazing how much easier it is to re staff a 16 size pocket watch than a 987s wristwatch due to the size of the parts. I have probably broken 4 or 5 of the smaller staffs while pressing on the balance wheels. Not my idea of a good time. Anyway, the GCT has a strong heartbeat again, which is enough. The hack wire does not reach the balance wheel. I suspect someone tried to service it and thought the wire was keeping it from running, so they bent it back from the wheel.
🤦 The powertrain on this was so strong (even with plenty of hardened, ancient oil) that it could keep time with no lower pivot in a couple of positions. Great movements.
