A no name "poor man's Heuer", but still one of my favorite watches. I love everything about it!

I did something to a watch today, that I have never done before. I “modded” it! I won this Rolex Air-King Date-Just in a Rolex sales contest 50 years ago. Yes! In 1971! Somewhere over the last 30 years or so, I acquired a genuine Rolex 14-karat yellow gold bezel. It came to me in its original envelope with a retail price (then) of $575.00. I’ve had it in my stash for over 30 years. I decided since this year is the 50th year of this watch, it was time to celebrate its Golden Anniversary, 50 years of ownership, by fitting the 14-karat yellow bezel to it, and to service it, likely for the 5th time over the years I’ve had it. Bracelet is not original.

You mad crazed hotrodder you!

whats next... flip the top of the aircleaner on the AMC?

today's junk seeing some use...

I got my dad’s old Seamaster back from the watchmaker today. I dropped it off there before the COVID panic. It took a little longer than usual because they couldn’t put the caseback on securely. Apparently both the case and the back are deformed, although it wasn’t falling off before. Now it wears a stainless back and the 18k back sits on the shelf. Not what I’d expected, but I don’t argue with watchmakers or witch doctors.

For reworking Mrs. noelekal's hen's water arrangement in the chicken run and for cleaning up the door mats after a gloomy damp week all week the beater Glycine calls for the beater jacket. Have had this jacket since before we married in 1978.

Anyone else continue to make use of beater garments for the grotty chores?
