·For reworking Mrs. noelekal's hen's water arrangement in the chicken run and for cleaning up the door mats after a gloomy damp week all week the beater Glycine calls for the beater jacket. Have had this jacket since before we married in 1978.
Anyone else continue to make use of beater garments for the grotty chores?
It is surprising how long clothes can actually last!
I still have a pair of suede pants (!) and several sweaters that I remember buying in 1988!!

·This one today, and for a long term test. My mid-1950s, grade 1623 (1952, one of approx 50,000 made, this one from the second last run of 15,000) 23-jewel Waltham Vanguard which may have had one year of use in its 68 years of existence. I am the third owner, and I have used it rarely, and I doubt that either of the first two owners used it at all. @DaveK .
