Grandpa’s Tissot Visodate Seastar Seven today. A monoblock cased caliber 784-1, post major overhaul as it was in need of much TLC, which it has deservedly received due to: surface corrosion pretty much everywhere on the movement, corroded balance cock, broken arbor and something that I haven’t yet been able to adequately translate “kaum Zeigerreibung” which seems to be something to to do with the way the hands are driven (via friction?), which would explain the pre-service arbitrary relationship between hour and minutes hands I guess. Anyway, all is now good thanks to Meister A. Lalla Uhrmachermeister in Hamburg.
Trying to decide between three of my favorite Omegas. From left to right, 1958 Geneve, 1962 Constellation Gold Cap and a 1964 Constellation in stainless steel. It’s a good problem to have.
It is an 1991 X-series 16518 with a service dial and hands. Service hands are a bit wider than the originals. I have the original dial and hands safely stored.
