Another one plucked. Circa 1946-7 Bulova with salmon dial and plumb hands and mighty cool lug design.
A simple 18K for tonight. Only the second time I have worn this watching for years. I don't know much about it other than it's a bumper. Have not been able to locate anyone local with the tool to remove the back correctly.
I’ve fallen behind. But I’ll catch up. Good news: the reset hammer spring for the Istanbul Ed White arrived from Deutschland yesterday and I dropped it off at the spa earlier today, where the watch awaits. Familiar faces, my day and night watches recently Why do I need so many other watches? Good question
Handsome watch....interesting case design.....the dial color is great and contrasts beautifully with the markers. I have one of these I am working on, but my dial is an off-white....now you have me looking for another one with your color dial. You probably know this, but for other OF members who might be interested, this model was known/advertised as both the "Princeton" and "His Excellency". The case design was produced from 1946-1950, and was available with several different dial design. I believe all versions used a 21 jewel movement. Here are a couple period adds.
Okay, so now I’ve caught up on several days of WRUW Today? Whew! But, I am reminded of a Hannibal Lecture line that I’ll paraphrase here: “How do we begin to covet? We begin with what we see every day.” You guys are killing me! The pages of watches that we are routinely posting represents an insane collection of gobsmacking pieces. It’d be interesting to have a website tool that, based on available information, estimated the total value of the watches on each page (at the bottom). I’m betting that the average varies between $75,000 to a quarter of millions dollars per page. Damn!
