As I'm WFH today and recovering from dentistry, the ice cream and childhood watch have come out. It still needs a service.
That’s the Omega Barenia leather NATO...I believe it’s currently called the Omega Novonappa leather NATO. When I first purchased it from a local Omega AD approximately three years ago, it was very orange in color [sort of like a Hooters orange]...so I darkened it to a darker brown with mink oil. Before darkening with mink oil on purchase day approximately three years ago... After darkening with mink oil and after approximately three years of wear...
I have to make a few observations about this watch: This is a fairly recent acquisition; when I first held it my reaction was "OMG! This this thing is huge and heavy! I'll never enjoy wearing it." I also found the styling a little over the top, a little too macho. However, having worn this piece a dozen or so times since then it has really become a favorite. Despite the weight and size it is super comfortable and the styling no longer seems so aggressive. There are some issues: the chrono seconds hand is maybe a half second off and there's a scuff on the bezel. I can probably live with the scuff and the chrono hand will be fixed when this goes in for service. So this watch has turned into a real keeper for me. I'm glad I didn't act on my first impulse and try to send it back or flip it.
Today wearing the little gem which arrived yesterday ( https://omegaforums.net/threads/arrivals-what-did-you-buy-recently-watches.8930/page-543#post-936557 )- the condition of this 50yo watch is nothing other than astonishing ! Received it from a private seller on dubious pics - and even the movement is crazy accurate: has lost about 2 secs in more than one day
