I've not worn this in what feels like years ... the first vintage watch I ever bought and something close to 80 years old:

Well...today is my birthday...and it's the big 50. Allow me to celebrate with you by sharing an extract from my archives.

This Polaroid picture was taken on my birthday. My brother, who sadly left us much too early, is on the left. Dad in the middle. Yours truly on the right. Clearly I blew the picture by doing the classic blink at the exact wrong time. BUT, I least I was in solid @Mad Dog popped-collar coolness training! So YaY to that!

There's no year written on the back, but if we can trust the standing candles, it was my 6th BD. 1973.

It was only a few months ago that I rediscovered this picture and the fact that my Dad was wearing his Speedmaster in it. I've only found a handful of pics of him wearing it, and this is one of the best. He often told me he wore it on special occasions. So discovering that he wore it that day, my birthday, has special meaning.

And here it is today with that picture taken long ago.

And now on me.

Wearing a Wenger pilot chronograph while visiting the LST 325 (Landing Ship Tank) WW2 amphibious landing ship. A veteran of the D-day landing. It's a real piece of history, and the only operating example left in the world.

Very cool! My grandfather served on
LST 265!

My Rolex GMT2 Pepsi has been getting a lot of wrist time lately. Just swapped it out for my Co-Axial Speedmaster.

The only time you need to be excused is when you take that beauty off. 馃榾
