Well...today is my birthday...and it's the big 50. Allow me to celebrate with you by sharing an extract from my archives.

This Polaroid picture was taken on my birthday. My brother, who sadly left us much too early, is on the left. Dad in the middle. Yours truly on the right. Clearly I blew the picture by doing the classic blink at the exact wrong time. BUT, I least I was in solid @Mad Dog popped-collar coolness training! So YaY to that!

There's no year written on the back, but if we can trust the standing candles, it was my 6th BD. 1973.

It was only a few months ago that I rediscovered this picture and the fact that my Dad was wearing his Speedmaster in it. I've only found a handful of pics of him wearing it, and this is one of the best. He often told me he wore it on special occasions. So discovering that he wore it that day, my birthday, has special meaning.

And here it is today with that picture taken long ago.

And now on me.

This is why I like Vintage. Beautiful story and thank you for sharing.

A week ago I had a client out for lunch and he mentioned he had sent his modern seamaster out for service, and we got to talking watches, and I suggested a couple of watchmakers as an alternative to his AD. Today I stopped in, and he handed me a copy of the 2017 catalogue and a copy of Omega Lifetime! I thought it was a very nice gesture!
