The set up: Bonavita electric kettle, Espro French press, Virtuoso burr grinder and a 1960 Vulcain The pay off. A perfect cup of coffee in a DD mug on a cold New England morning!!
This is were watch collecting begins, my first watch was a mickey mouse my mother gave me when I was 5 years old !
But today I have something cool too. I just collected my personal Speedy 60 poster at the OB (no. 75/175).
With an upcoming 'addition' to my son's family its been a time to look ahead and back and be thankful. This is the watch my father gave me when I turned 50 (17 yrs ago). It was really the first 'good' watch I have owned. And looking back it started what would become a great hobby that didn't really start until a dozen years later. I wore it constantly for 10 years. I even used that watch for diving ... it has the divers extension. I had it serviced by Omega and since then, it just comes out for family occasions. There is a thread about 'would you ever sell a watch your father gave you'. I would never sell this one. He was not well off by any means so it was a stretch for him to buy this for me and so this represents all the sacrifices he made for his family, what he did for me, and for what he was known and respected for by his friends and colleagues. This is one that will pass on to one of my sons for sure. Not particularly valuable monetarily, but priceless to me.
Yes! Day made! Seiko Five here today as well! This one was my grandfathers and was undoubtedly a beater. So I use it all the same. House work today!
