Speedy at 45,000 FT. Not setting any Speedmaster altitude records today. But, she's a lovely companion.
Nice Speedy...and nice gauges in the background. I wish we had glass like that [I fly the MD-88/90 at Delta] so we have a combination of small [old] glass and steam gauges. I'm guessing you're at British Airways based on your OF name. There seems to be quite a few pilots here...I think we should have our own OF "pointy end" sub-forum...where we can talk about..."pointy end" stuff. 馃榿

Im not actually wearing it but its an omega and wanted to share it anyway its bloody MENTAL 50mm Lug to Lug 11mm thick case back to crystal 13.5mm lug base to crystal

International collection 1973 and its just weird to see an omega like this! (if it was 83 yea maybe but 73 omega were pretty reserved!)

ANGLES EVERYWHERE! think the sharpest chunkiest "Curvex" ever for a "tank" its well a TANK

but it does wear comfortably and it looks good with a suit..

Apologies for a bit of a long WRUW, but it鈥檚 is a special SpeedyTuesday for me. The Extract of the Archives for my Dad鈥檚 ST 105.012-65 has arrived!

It answers the question as to which vacation were my parents on when he purchased the Speedy. My Dad claimed it was in January 1965 in Barbados, which would鈥檝e made it an early-bird Pro. When I eventually opened it (after he passed away) and saw that it was a -65, I started having my doubts. Plus the 1506 bracelet has a 4 and 66 stamped in the shape of a triangle... Meanwhile I was generally aware a vacation to Jamaica they had taken a couple years later, the year I was born.

So now, thanks to the Extract, it all makes sense. Manufactured in Oct. 1966, and delivered to Jamaica, he clearly bought it during the Jamaica vacation in the winter of 66/67.

I鈥檝e been looking through hundreds of pictures to find him wearing it. Besides not wearing it much at all, he was usually the one taking the pictures, so it鈥檚 been really frustrating. So far this is the best I鈥檝e found. My Dad and his Mom on a Miami Beach vacation around 1974/75.

The angle of the watch here disguises it a bit. May not look like a Speedmaster at first, but the flat link bracelet gives it away for me. Approx. 1970/71

This could arguably be any large chronograph, but I know, and my surviving Mom agrees, it鈥檚 the Speedmaster under his cuff. Approx 1968.

Obviously today this 49 year old is wearing the now 50 year old Speedmaster.

And yeah鈥f you鈥檝e been paying attention, the toddler on the lap...and the kid in the middle doing a early @Mad Dog impersonation...is me. Should I make this my avatar?

Outstanding post!

It's still Speedy Tuesday! 馃憤

Switching from the @ChuckMK23 Mt. Baker band to the Raine Inc. "Wide Boy" protective band in anticipation of three days in the pointy end starting tomorrow...reveille is at zero dark thirty tomorrow so I need to get stuff squared away now.
