Thermo-compensated, integrated circuit technology two days in a row. It will probably be three given another major snowstorm is going tohit us dead center this evening.
Does yours also have a Lemania crown and case ref?
Meylan was one of the "founding fathers " of Lemania. Would have been very interesting to hear if someone has some info on this relation.
Cheers
So many Meylans wandering through horological history... This is some of the best stuff on Marius, C.H., Max, A.R., and J.E. Myelin.
These watches were, it seems, made by Lemania for an American distributor of timing devices, the Meylan Stopwatch Co. The exact familial relationship between Marius (son-in-law of the founder of A. Lugrin SA, which is renamed Lemania under Marius's leadership) and the "American" Meylans is not clear, nor is the identity of "A.R. and J.E," but the business name in America (New York and New Jersey) seems to have gone like this: C.H. (Charles Henri) Meylan --> A.R. & J.E. Meylan --> Meylan Stopwatch Co. --> Meylan Corporation. The company lives on (!) in Upper Montclair, New Jersey... though their website, put up around 2000 (they claim to have existed "since 1921"... "for over 79 years"), might have fossilized around 2002.
Meylan (Stopwatch) Corporation seems to have focused on the timing of industrial processes - manufacturing, etc. - which explains the prevalence of decimal scales on their chronos. I will try to make a dedicated post on Meylan... awaiting some additional information.
Wilco...currently in KLGA...and for the record, it ran for 60 hours as advertised (keeping excellent time) as of 1025 LT today...however, it really started to significantly slow down between hour 61 and hour 62...regardless...good times! 👍
NOTE: Yes, I see the fiber debris in the movement. 😲
Enjoying the patterning on the dial of this GS, reminds of snowflakes. I know it's not the official GS Snowflake, but my personal one and deadly accurate to boot! It hasn't lost or gained a second since the last DST time change in November.
