Not wanting to hijack your post, but here is my watch which was 3 years old when we were married over 50 years ago. 1963 Accutron 214. Still have it, though it is not on my wrist today. An outdoors day today, and rain is predicted. It was $195.00 (Cdn.) on a leather strap, back then. High tech and very advanced for the day!
2254.50 back on bracelet today.... If anyone's seen a spring bar it took off from central England about two hours ago. Last seen heading towards America's east coast travelling at 2000mph. By my reckoning, and depending on wind direction, it's probably in the NewYork/Boston area about now. If you find it send me a PM. Cheers
With a strong head wind, it might have ended up in Iceland or Greenland! But don't give up searching your work area! After a search involving several hours in my shop, I was fortunate enough to locate a Rolex stem and crown which recently disappeared from my bench top. Fringe benefit? My shop received a badly needed freshening over the process!
Other than the internet, which I know creates new problems of trust that seem to me to be higher than face to face encounters, how do you find specimens like these? Every day I'm in awe at the number of superior examples of vintage timepieces shown here. These are just the latest....
Rain is predicted. May change over to the modern Sea Wolf from vintage. The steroid use is obvious but not too ridiculous. Both are fun watches to wear, but I do like the tiny jewel like proportions of the vintage piece.
Just can't wear this one often enough. Amazing blue dial. Total awesomeness. First sold in 2005. Retail was about $3400. I have the original purchase receipt and it sold for $2995.
