Not even Tuesday and half the posts are of speedies. So many different speedies that have aged wonderful.

Today I'm wearing my youngest son's 3572.50. He will get it in 10-20 years. Until then...

Thought I'd wear the Alpinist on a cold gray blustery Chicago day.

Not normally a "Rolex liker", but with that background I just could not hold myself back!
😀
My one and only, but I do "like it", thanks, Anders!

A recent addition - silver-dialed Yachting chrono to go with its slightly more common blue brother:
This particular dial (I2 according to my typology) is somewhat of a wild card. It is most often found on 176.005s or 176.007s, but was possibly applied to those as a service replacement or just a less common option. I always thought it just made sense as the alternate dial on a steel 176.010, but until recently I had never seen a photo of a steel 176.010 with this dial. Oddly, I had seen this dial on the gold plated 176.010, though I thought it was an odd configuration since all the other cal. 1040 gp Omegas from the era had gold or brown dials. Anyway, when I saw this one pop up for sale I pounced, and now I can easily time two regattas at once!

It’s a long story, but I have both a Gen 1 and a Gen 2 X-33. Given their similarity, I find it fun to compare the Gen 1’s dual anti-reflective coating vs the Gen 2’s single AR.

With just a white ceiling above providing uniform reflection, note how the black minute/hour ring is blacker on the Gen 1 and grayer on the Gen 2, yet they are the same dials. The Gen 1’s dual AR is causing this extra contrast. Higher contrast can also be seen with the blacker LCD characters on the Gen 1 as well.

Reversing their positions to show the effect tracks the watch and not my camera angle.

Now purposely allowing above lights to be reflected off the crystal.

Reversed.

Of course dual AR is not for everyone because it scratches (as mine is a little) and shows fingerprints easily. I’m the type that’s pretty good about avoiding that, so all other things being equal, I like dual AR.

Does that make me prefer the Gen 1? Not so fast…but that’s too long a story for here. But I am wearing the Gen 1 today.😀

And in anticipation of Tuesday, here is a file photo of my Gen 2 with it’s much older flight qualified brother.😁

Great images! I noticed that the current Seamaster 300 has rather more reflections from the crystal than pretty much all my other watches. After seeing your images I checked the Omega website again and see that the 300 is only internally AR coated which explains a lot. My Globemaster however doesn't seem to pick up fingerprints on the crystal despite being dual AR coated. I wonder if Omega has different AR processes/formulations?

Still double dogging it today with the two machines pictured below on their original black leather bands...and I decided to give it the old college try regarding the @dialstatic translucent plastic light box trick...

Great photo and thanks for explaining the trick. 👍
