Spent the afternoon learning about the Russian Space programme at the Cosmonauts exhibition... And got myself an age appropriate reference book from the gift shop
The turn of the year lets me check and wear some of my perpetual calendar watches.
This one fits easily under the cuff (35 mm diameter, 10 mm height), pure dressy understatement, contrary to the Portugieser shown yesterday.
This is an extremely rare IWC Ingenieur Ewiger Kalender (Perpetual Calendar) in White Gold. Reportedly eight pieces were made for a Swiss retailer. I've never seen a second example.
The movement IWC cal. 3758X is based on the ETA cal. 2892-2, piggybacked with Kurt Klaus' ingenious perpetual calendar mechanism.
In reality the dial is not as legible as the photos suggest, but the very thin hands are filled with Tritium and the dial has tiny dots.
