Happy Model 1911 Day!

On February 14th, 1911 John Moses Browning was granted US Patent 984519 for the 1911 Pistol, a design that became the standard-issue sidearm for the U.S. Armed Forces for over 70 years and remains a stalwart in the sport shooting world.

Early production Colt pistols, both the Government Model and the military contract Model of 1911s, feature the patent dates on the slide, including the February 14th "patent date of destiny."

Pistol is a British military contract variant of the commercial Colt Government Model and is chambered for the .455 Self Loading cartridge rather than the common .45 ACP. This one dates to 1916. Shown with the mid-1980s Speedmaster from the Home For Wayward Watches.

Oh, and don’t forget your significant other sweetie on Valentine’s Day!

Put my Zenith Respirator on a different bracelet, and am loving it. Been very nice to wear this over the week.

Bracelet is a (fairly cheap, older) Speidel bracelet with acrylic inserts. No idea when it was produced, but the greyish metal is a great match for the watch.

Anfibio this morning, the styling is a bit of an acquired taste and I am not there yet but it's different.
Dates from 1976 which explains the look.
Roamers patent waterproof case system though by this time the words water proof had been dropped and on this one even the water resistant are not there..

Wife is shopping for Valentines Day, I told her I needed to make some calls…so I’m sitting in the car reading the forum for a while to avoid going in. 😂
