It should be a second time zone. That would make sense for something called an Aero-Compax, maybe aimed at pilot types, and would actually be useful. Unfortunately, it's just a dummy dial to be used as a reminder, without so much as an alarm. But it looks good!

Being able to record a time like that can be very useful to a pilot. You can use it to remember takeoff time so you can accurately record flight hours without tying up the chrono. You can use it to remember a time on target, or a any other important time. I frequently write times in wet erase marker on the crystal of my watch to remember, especially when I will be in the plane and unable to hear an alarm.

Thanks, that actually makes sense. I have always considered it to be just a weak substitute for an alarm. Now I'll think of it more as a little rotatable bezel in a subdial.
